Self frustrated with McCormack after North Texas win

Happy Thanksgiving! Maybe the guys will listen to coach after getting punked today. What was that? Dayton was on fire, Hawks looked lost and the scrappy team got confident, and evidently the basketball bounces at the end.

KU deserved to lose this game, too many unforced errors, missed FT’s and dumb TO’s starting from 1:39 in 1H. Braun, seriously getting T’d up on a dunk. Not smart basketball. Also getting smoked on the boards.

McCormack is a liability on the court right now. Bench him, put Wilson in, and let David regain some confidence coming off.

Early in the season, but nonetheless frustrating to watch the Hawks melt down.

I will update the +/-, player ratings and DPPI tomorrow morning. I had a belated Thanksgiving today with my family. I didn;t watch the game until way late and unfortunately I already saw the alert that KU lost. I had to watch to do my analysis. I won’t belabor the point but it seems that Self is determined to get David back on track. That might be the right move since we saw last year what he can do when on track. But man oh man is he in a funk of massive proportions. It seems he is like a Mexican jumping bean unable to stop his body from fidgeting and his hands are covered with some sort of anti-stickem. And that charge call is not so bad (yes it really was) but it is the fat that when he catches on the block he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO predictable. No complex scouting required. And I know I am swimming against the tide with Jayhawk nation but I am not sold on Dajuan getting more than fill-in minutes. I haven;t even looked at the box score yet. In general I thought our guys were playing pretty aggressively. Unfortunately the other team played like they really really really wanted to win with extra aggressiveness.

One final note. Since I invested my money and time last season to do the DPPI analysis back to 1950 I took a quick look at the last 70 years of KU basketball. We have had 15 games where KU underperformed by 25 points or less si nice 1950. Yes, that is 15 games. THE WORST game in KU history (back to 1950) was the USC loss in last years NCAA tourney, But this game is close. It is one of the 15 or 20 worst games in 70 years. I’ll post all that data tomorrow when I update the DPPI. That is pretty significant when you have one of the 15 or 20 worst games in over 2000 games.
