"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
KUSports.com - Tait: Self reunion with longtime friend, Billy Gillispie, only part of the picture for Kansas vs. Tarleton State
Clyde gets the game promised when COVID19 wiped out the scheduled 2020 contest against Tarleton State (yes, that's why KU is playing the Texans).
Good to see Gillispie putting his life back together.
Love Bill's anecdote from the days when BG worked as an assistant... classic!
The last paragraph of the entire article --
"The Jayhawks (1-0) are ranked third in both the Associated Press poll and the KenPom.com rankings, while Tarleton State is ranked 214th by KenPom. That’s 125 spots higher than TSU was ranked heading into their scheduled meeting last December."
Hey, CorpusJayhawk -- how long before the DPPI has a reliable base of data and a link to the current year for us so I can add it to the Davis Power Predictor pinned post?
And a big Rock Chalk Jayhawk! in thanks for all your labors of love (I would never stoop so low as to call it "work"; effort, yes, but work? Never!)

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
Hey HE. Not to go into gory detail, but the algorithm for the DPPI is a “predictive” model. That means the obvious. It is intended to be primarily used to predict more accurately future outcomes. Some models are “retrodictive” meaning they are more designed to give credit for past performance with less emphasis on being predictive. For predictive models, the teams have to be meaningfully “connected” statistically. For this connection to be statistically “robust” would take every team playing ten games or so randomly distributed (I.e. not limited to conference opponents only). The way my algorithm it requires a minimum of three games for every team to run properly. That has to do with the fact that the algorithm calculates the average scoring margin of a teams opponents opponents opponents. So short answer long, when every team has played three games I will be up and running. I haven’t looked at the schedule for every team but if there are a handful of teams that take a while (say into December) to get three games, I will fabricate those handful of games for this few teams so I can get it up and running. Hopefully by next weekend.

Thanks, Corpus! Knew you had a threshold for the DPPI. Glad to see we will be able to access it again soon!
Once you get the link posted I will copy it to the pinned thread for easier reference.
