Ernest Udeh commits to KU — a big get for Self

Ernest Udeh Jr announced today that he is committing enthusiastically to KU. He is ranked generally around 30th depending on the ranking service. This is an important signing for Self. We really needed a dominant athletic big to replace Big Dave, We are still in the running for Brandon Miller as well. If he signs he would be the highest ranked recruit in the class for KU and make this one of the best recruiting classes for Self. With the portal it is hard to envision who might leave. But if we lose only the 5 seniors and keep the other 8 players (not counting Mitch since he is a super senior) we will be just as deep next season only super young versus super old like we are this season. Self has really hit for average the last two recruiting classes. We will be set at every position with only PG a little shaky. But if Dajuan Harris is as improved as advertised and Yesefu is anything like he was at Drake and Petiford is as good as some think, we are set at PG as well. We will simply be lousy with talent on the wing next year if everyone stays.

Great pickup, and seems like he’s a two year guy at a minimum. That body should get much stronger and he’ll be a beast.

but I think Grady Dick may be the best freshman of the class. Saw some video of him, and looks extremely smooth and calm. His threes barely move the net. I put very little stock in high school videos, but he looks good.
