Just got the mag in the mail so haven't read it yet. Priorities go to sharing it with my fellow RCBers before diving in myself :)

I excerpted the first paragraph below. I didn't know about this "scandalous" video and how he subsequently lost his job at ESPN. If, after reading (or before), is familiar with and is up for sharing their take on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Moments of Truth: Paul Pierce Reflects on a Hall of Fame Career
As the Celtics legend prepares to be enshrined, he is unapologetic about his past—and bullish about his future.

Let’s start here: Paul Pierce isn’t sorry.
Not for the video, that minutes-long clip that made the rounds on social media, the one that cost Pierce his job at ESPN. Honestly, Pierce didn’t even know he made a video. Here’s what happened: In April, Pierce was playing poker at a friend’s house in Los Angeles. There was drinking. And smoking. And strippers. And after a little too much drinking and smoking, Pierce decided to start an Instagram Live and, well, show off the strippers. He went on for a few minutes, riffing, he thought, for a couple hundred people. When he finished, he deleted it. He didn’t know IG Lives can be recorded (they can) and reposted (it was). Pierce went home that night thinking no one noticed. He woke up the next day and discovered everyone had.

I always liked Paul.

The video? Never saw it.

ESPN? These days the only good thing I can say is they show a lot of KU hoops and pay dearly for it (may they continue to do both).

Interestingly my main KU memory of Paul is he had loose handles for the longest time, what I saw as the only real flaw in his game. That he was a (the?) key player on 2 KU teams that failed to reach the FF (one often ranked as one of the greatest teams ever) i don’t dwell on. Too depressing if I do, so I Scarlett O’Hara it (tomorrow…).

I’m just glad for Paul — that he survived the attack, that he got to the mountaintop with the Celtics and that he seems to be in a good place with himself these days.

Rock Chalk, Paul Pierce!

And hey!
Y’all come back now, hear?

Most of my favorite players were three year guys. Paul, Drew, the Twins, Mario, TRob, Brandon... No last names required after three seasons. Unlike the one n dones there's no oh yea he did play at KU. These guys substantially grew up in Lawrence and refined their game, Paul arrived very good and as I recall developed his left hand dribble and move between his sophomore and junior seasons. The Celtics got a gift drafting him when they did,
