The Athletic has an article on the Jayhawks. It is an interview with Ramsey Nijem. He is the coach who gets to spend the most time with the players at this point. It seems a little like a puff piece. But it was encouraging nonetheless. Here is a brief recap.

Ochai - Already a hard worker but highly motivated and working super hard. Also motivating others because he knows what it takes to win. Leading by example and vocally.

Christian — added 10 pounds and all muscle. Also apparently has really transformed his game. Look for big things from Christian.

Remy - quick as lightning. His age shows in his leadership and maturity. Also a hard worker and motivated to win.

McCormack — Nijem working with him to make him to make him dominant in the league. McCormack is also a senior and has doubled down on his motivation. Working very hard.

Wilson — Nijem is working on his explosiveness. Has added 2 inches to his vertical.

Harris — Nijem really built up Harris. Said next to CB is the biggest transformation on the team. Apparently really stepping up his leadership skills.

Cam Martin — lost 10 pounds. I was reading between the lines that he is getting a welcome to big-time basketball and needs to get in better shape.

KJ Adams — apparently a beast physically

Clemence — standing out but all the freshmen are pretty solid

Jalen Coleman-Lands — like Remy Martin, good maturity and working hard. Wants his last run to count.

No mention of Yesufu.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

Link to the article “ ‘They understand it’: The Jayhawks are putting in the work after last season’s early NCAA Tournament exit”

Yeah, it’s all positive, no negative stuff, but hey, it’s nice to get an update like this.

Re: Cam Martin, the way I read that was *he* set the goal of losing ten pounds and getting in the best shape of his life because he knows he is now out of the pond and swimming in the wild and wide open ocean.

And based on the article EVERYONE understands what needs to be done, and it starts with the “85-51” Ramsey Nijem wrote on a weight room board after a short postseason break back in April.

The write up on CB and DH and Big Dave — I got to stop these Pavlovian responses!

Thanks for the heads up, Corpus!.

FWIW FYI you can currently subscribe to The Athletic.com for just $36/year (50% off).

I’ve been very pleased so far. Best sports coverage I’ve been reading this year.
