Listen, I am not down on Jamari or in any way casting aspersions on his life story or character. I am most definitely saying that in my opinion this young man brings little positive and much negative to the team when he is on the floor. Mickelson continues to have positive +/- while Jamari has, for multiple years, had a profoundly negative and consistently negative +/-. Good kid, bad basketball player for the Jayhawks. Self has, IMO, had love affairs with certain players that were inexplicable. Landen Lucas can't shoot his way out of a paper bag but he largely plays within his skills set and brings much to the team. The +/- indicates as much. Our starters are simply not getting it done the last three games. It starts with Frank. Perry's game, sadly, depends on his teammates. I give Frank great credit when this team succeeds. I will likelwise put a great deal of the blame for the current funk on Frank. Like it or not, that is the role of a leader. Wake up Frank.

Just an "eye test" thing here, but it seems to me that Jamari brings some defensive toughness and hustle to things. One flaw in the numbers might be that if Jamari comes in because on of the other bigs isn't playing "Kansas Defense" and locks a guy up, but that results in somebody else on the opposing team scoring, the stats don't back it up.

Again, this could be wrong, but just what it "looks like".

He can't rebound. He fouls. He is a turnover machine. He can't shoot. He can't dribble.

He hustles. And he hustles. Yes, he hustles.

Like Lucas, if he can't take and hit a 10 foot jumpshot, he shouldn't be playing. Every 4 or 5 games, he gives us a surprise, but overall he is not an asset to THIS team.

And I love the young man.
