Remember that independent review of KU's case

Apparently they are now saying that the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP) which KU signed up for and is supposed to perform its own investigation of the facts, is taking too long so they should just accept the investigation that the NCAA enforcement staff did "unless the unit can demonstrate a compelling reason why additional investigation is required."

I thought the whole purpose is that the complexity and detail necessary to rule in such cases was not fully determined by the NCAA Enforcement Staff or that they did such a poor job that it was being questioned therefore a new review was supposed to be done.

Seems pretty sketchy to me and if they were to suddenly rule in favor of the NCAA for KU I would cry foul and try to put the final nail in the NCAA coffin for such abuse.

NCAA: “Because we say so!”

KANSAS: “So much for independent review.
It’s had a year, still no decision? What did your team miss that is creating problems for them?”
“Oh, by the way, with this change we will certainly see you in court regarding any unfavorable ruling.”

Just on the story’s merit alone, how can the NCAA offer to KU to take the IARP route, then a year later move the damn goalposts and tell the IARP it should just “accept the NCAA’s investigation?”

That indefensible U-turn and brazen intervention alone should conceivably enable KU to win a court case overturning any (now-rushed) IARP ruling that proves to be highly injurious.

I cannot stand the NCAA. And I smell a very rancid rat with respect to the timing of this NCAA-driven story.

Maybe I’m paranoid, but this strikes me as the notoriously anti-KU hacks at the NCAA trying to sabotage KU’s exploration of a solid landing spot like the B1G. By hinting to its leaders and members that, if you take KU, the first thing you might have to deal with is the school being embroiled in a scandal and institutional punishment.
