Tomorrow night our winged warriors host the Texans of Tarleton State University (0-1/0-0 L1), located in Stephenville, TX, just 65 miles southwest from conference foes TCU in Fort Worth. Established in 1899 and a member of the Texas A&M University system since 1917, TSU became a D1 school and a member of the Western Athletic Conference on July 1, 2020.
7 PM CT on ESPN+ , Bill Self's KANSAS JAYHAWKS (1-0/0-0 W1) face their first home court opponent of the season. (And my annual note to thank Bayhawk for bringing the ku leanplayer to our attention! - HE)
The ESPN pregame prediction favors KU to win 93.3% of the time. The spread seems to be around 25 points in KU's favor.

To take on our Jayhawks on another...
... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL NIGHT!
(with thanks to the Jo Stafford tune "Shrimp Boats" for the intro inspiration…)
Thursday night our Crimson & Blue men's basketballers host the Seawolves of the State University of New York at Stony Brook (0-1/0-0 L1), located in Stony Brook on Long Island, NY. Established in 1957, it is a member of the Universities Research Association and in 2001 elected to the Association of American Universities. It is a D1 member of the America East Conference for all sports except football (Colonial Athletic Conference) and tennis (Missouri Valley Conference), and in size has a student population (just under 27K in 2020) comparable to that of KU.
This is the first ever meeting between the two programs. In its first game of the season, Stony Brook lost 72-54 at George Mason University (4-0), who tonight (Wednesday evening) beat AP#20 Maryland (3-1) in College Park.
7 PM CT on ESPN+ is the place we "meet". Game voices for Big 12 Now on ESPN+ will be Dave Armstrong (play-by-play) and Nick Bahe (analyst). The Jayhawk Network Radio crew will be Brian Hanni (play-by-play) and Greg Gurley (analyst).
AND do NOT FORGET that you can listen to the home crew on kuathletics.leanplayer.com/ .
(And you can listen to the Crimson & Blue Show pregame (5:30 PM CT) and postgame, and later in the week HAWK TALK with BILL SELF from Johnny's Tavern West in west Lawrence.)
The ESPN pregame prediction favors KU to win 95.3% of the time. The spread again seems to be around 25 points in KU's favor.

over KANSAS on Turkey Day for KU's first seasonal...
... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL DAY!!
Late Thursday morning the ESPN Events Invitational begins at HP Field House on the campus of Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Florida! In Game 2 (beginning anytime after 1 but projected to be 1:30 PM CT on ESPN, depending on how long Game 1 goes) our Crimson & Blue Jayhawks men face the Mean Green of the University of North Texas, located in Denton (home to our own Jalen Wilson) and alma mater to NFL Hall of Famer "Mean Joe" Greene (with their green and white school colors they adopted Mean Green to honor him!). With roots going all the way back to 1890, today it is a public research university with over 42,000 students (over 32K undergraduates and over 9K graduate students).
This is just the second meeting between the two programs, KU winning in AFH back in November 2010. So far this season UNT is 2-1, having defeated Oklahoma Christian and UT-Arlington but losing to Buffalo.
Game voices for ESPN will be Joe Sciambi (play-by-play) and Chris Spatola (analyst). The Jayhawk Network Radio crew will be Brian Hanni (play-by-play) and Greg Gurley (analyst).
AND do NOT FORGET that you can listen to the home crew on kuathletics.leanplayer.com/ .
It looks as if the radio coverage will begin @ 12:30, so you can get your pump primed there listening to the crew!
The ESPN pregame matchup prediction favors KU to win 86.2% of the time. The spread looks to favor KU by 14.5 points.

But Jayhawk delight is a Red Storm on ...
... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL NIGHT!
The 2021 Big East/Big 12 Battle is ON!
Friday night our beloved Jayhawks travel east to play the first ever basketball game in the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY (just 10 miles west from where Lucky Lindy took off for Paris, the UBS Arena is the new home of the NHL's NY Islanders). The opposition is the Red Storm of St. John's University (5-1/0-0 W3), whose main campus is located on Long Island in Queens, NY. Established in 1870 in Brooklyn, in the 20th Century it purchased land in Queens and eventually moved all of its Brooklyn colleges to the new Queens HQ location. St. John's is a D1 member of the Big East, and as of the beginning of this season was ranked 9th behind UK, KU, UNC, Duke, Temple, Syracuse, UCLA and Notre Dame on the All Time Winningest Division I Mens' Basketball Programs. Since 2019 it has been headed up by former mOO and Sooey head coach Mike Anderson.
This is the 14th meeting between the two programs. with KU leading the series 8-5, which includes the very first game the two teams played against each other in 1950 (won by KANSAS 52-51 in Madison Square Garden) and more importantly, the second game they ever played against each other, the 1952 NCAA Tournament title game won 80-63 by Phog Allen's Jayhawks! Since Larry Brown took over in 1983, KANSAS is 4-1 against St. John's, and that one 76-50 loss in NYC in December 34 years ago was a heartbreaker. (Why?)
6 PM CT on Fox Sports 1
Game voices for Fox Sports 1 will be Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Jim Jackson (analyst).
The Jayhawk Network Radio crew will be Brian Hanni (play-by-play) and Greg Gurley (analyst), with coverage starting at 5:30 CT.
AND do NOT FORGET that you can listen to the home crew on kuathletics.leanplayer.com/ .
And you can listen to the Crimson & Blue Show pregame (4:30 PM CT) and postgame shows at the link as well!
The ESPN pregame prediction favors KU to win 56.9% of the time. The spread seems to be around 7 points in KU's favor.

Playing the Jayhawks in KC Missouri, they've come for another...
... Buh duh DUH duh DUH DUH duh duh duh duh DUH DUH DUH ... BALL NIGHT!
First -- on this 80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the United States subsequently entering World War II, a moment in memoriam.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday night our beloved Jayhawks (6-1) travel east to their home-away-from-home the T-Mobile Center to play the visiting UTEP Miners (4-3) in KCMO.
This is the 6th meeting between the two programs. Believe it or not, UTEP actually leads the series 3-2, with KU winning the last two meetings. The very first game the two teams played against each other was in March 1966 when they were known as Texas Western and the win sent them to the Final Four. Ted Owens' boys lost to them again the following December, and Roy's Boys lost to them in the NCAA tournament in 1992. Bill Sell's teams have won both of their meetings -- in the Bahamas in 2013 and in Lawrence in 2021.
Game voices for ESPN+ will be Chuckie Kempf (play-by-play) and King McClure (analyst).
