KUSports.com - Tait: Kansas basketball officially announces addition of 2 new walk-ons
Article also posted in the Recruiting thread, repeated here for general comment.
While Remy Martin, Ochai Agbaji and Jalen Wilson continue going through the draft process, the staff continue to operate as if all three will be on campus after July 7.
Jalen Coleman-Lands is finishing up things at Iowa State before moving to Lawrence.
Walk-on forward Dillon Wilhite (the grandson of Self's longtime administrative assistant Joanie Stephens) and guard Charlie McCarthy (son of prominent KU grad and donor Kent McCarthy) joined KU’s four scholarship freshmen -- KJ Adams, Zach Clemence, Kyle Cuffe Jr., and Bobby Pettiford -- in checking into their rooms at McCarthy Hall on Sunday.
Bill Self on newest walk-ons Dillon Wilhite and Charlie McCarthy:
“We’re happy to get both Charlie and Dillon,” Self said. “Each had successful high school careers in California but they are probably more familiar with Lawrence, Kansas, than anyone from out of state that we have recruited. Dillon’s father, Brad, grew up here and his grandmother, Joanie Stephens, happens to be my administrative assistant and has worked in the athletic department for 37 years. Both Charlie’s parents, Kent and Missy, graduated from KU and have been generous contributors to the Williams Education Fund for years. Charlie and Dillon will both be able to put their handprint on what we are trying to do in the men’s basketball program and they’ll both have a role in accomplishing that.”
“I’m excited for both of them. They know it’s going to be a lot of work. More importantly, what they are most excited about is being at the University of Kansas and continuing their family tradition.”

Is it accurate to say that Charlie McCarthy is now living in a dormitory named after his father?
