Kansas basketball lands commitment from Iowa State transfer Jalen Coleman-Lands
"Thanks to all of their offseason additions and what they have returning, the 2021-22 Jayhawks are viewed by most national analysts and outlets as a top 5 team heading into next season."

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
Probably similar to Isaiah Moss. Maybe a bit better actually. But it begs the question, who else is going? Is it Ochai or Jalen not coming back or is someone else going to be headed out? Poor Dajuan Harris just got recruited over big time with Martin and even possibly with Pettiford or Yesufu. Maybe he is ready to bolt. I sure can't see anyone else leaving.

For what it’s worth, the prevailing thought is that Ochai is not coming back. There have even been posters on other sites (e.g., JayhawkSlant) with claims to program (i.e., “insider”) info writing that the staff knows this, hence the bringing on of Jalen 2.
IMO, assuming Remy withdraws to play at KU, Dajuan will back him up next season and return as the starting PG for his Jr and Sr seasons. But that’s just my thought.

I regret to say that with each transfer in/out I'm losing motivation to follow the team as closely as I have in the past. This guy has played for four years, at least one of which was against KU, and I have no idea who he is. Are we just grabbing bodies now?
Is the portal still open, and could we see more current players (Harris?) leave after seeing new guys coming in and likely playing ahead of them?
Boy, I sure hope this free agency is a one year phenomenon.

ha! we complain if he doesnt move aggressively to fix the team and then complain when he does. talent assessment is nearly impossible when viewing high school tape; college tape a different story. my guess is coach self knows exactly what hes getting and how hes going to use them. as to integrating the pieces and delivering both a winning and entertaining form of team basketball i have zero concerns. by the end of the season we will love all these new faces and the results they produce. these transfer changes have put an even bigger premium on great coaching which of course is our chief advantage. cant wait to watch it all unfold. as to who leaves if ochai returns ( and i think he will because the one thing that wld raise his draft status is starring on a final four team) i think kyle cuff will redshirt which wld be good for him and the program.

CURRENT ROSTER (assuming all commitments show up)
14 tally scholarship players (including Super Senior transfers)
1 Super Senior KU player in Mitch
3 Walk-ons
Somebody else is going to have to leave. Cuffe may redshirt, but redshirts still count against the 13 annual scholarships total.
IF Remy, Ochai and JWilson all withdraw from the NBA Draft to play next season, KU will have 14 scholarship players on board (15 counting Mitch, but as a stay-at-home Super Senior his scholly doesn't count against KU's annual limit). Remy Martin and Cam Martin are also coming on Super Senior rides, but they count against KU's annual limit because they were not with KU last season.
Current preponderance of fan board scuttlebutt, including those claiming "insider info" is that Ochai is gone, but as far as I know no one "in the know" is on record to that.
BOTTOM LINE -- SOMEBODY on what amounts to the current roster will not be here next season.

Big g you are most likely right about falling back in line after the ball bounces. I rue the changes but when the ball tips I find my butt back in the recliner and my eyes firmly glued to the game. I will disagree in concept that I have no beef with Self rebuilding the team in this manner. In fact, I agree that he is making all the moves to bolster the teams ultimate ceiling. My rue is due to the rule changes and that is just my role as a person who is getting older and more set in my ways. I am very happy with Coach Self and I really don't have any beef with the players who are leaving or coming. I just don't particularly like this change in flavor of college sports to look more and more like pro sports. As to HE's comment about Dajuan being the future starter at PG in 2023 and 2024, I am not sold yet. I liked his progress this year but I personally still judge there to be a gap between his abilities and the needs and desires of a starting PG on a NC caliber team. He got to the point where I didn't worry if he had to play too many minutes as a backup, but I am not sold he has the chops to start, lead and play 30+ minutes as the key PG and floor general.
