"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
KCStar - Bedore: ‘Revolving door’ way of future, Bill Self says on KU Jayhawks adding 10 new players
BLUF
1. Expect more of the same in the future as far as the roster turnover.
2. HCBS ain't going no where.

From your linked article
“It’s like being a junior college head coach in which you only get guys for one or two years. I personally do not like it. I think it’s a bad, bad rule change. I don’t think it’ll hurt us as much as maybe some other schools,” Self said. “If you look at what’s in the best interest of our sport, I don’t see the positivity in it at all. Fans, coaches, everybody needs to get used to it.”
No. No we don't have to get used to it. If the players don't have any pride in or loyalty to their school and team, why should the fans? I gave up most pro sports for a variety of reasons, near the top of the list was the changing of players chasing the dollar. I do not begrudge them wanting more money if someone will pay it, but why would I support a team name when they don't.
The one and done rule started a shift in the landscape, then you had players changing if they had already graduated, now free transfers for all. Thanks but no thanks.
College athletics used to be about schools and pride. The pros were about individuals and greed.
I may watch the product from time to time, but I know my loyalty desire to follow college sports is much much lower and may become non-existent in the near future.
So no Bill, we don't have to get used to it.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
I'm feeling you Kong. I'm not quite ready to bail yet but good golly miss molly, the landscape of the game is changing. 1608 players thus far in the portal. As best as I can tell there are about 4650 D-1 players. That means 35% of players are moving this season. When you consider that another 1100 or so graduate and move on and another 200 leave school early for some reason or other, that means there will be a 62% turnover. Is that the new norm? That is 8 new faces per year on average. Then when you consider the new NIL rules coming down the pike, the difference in college and pros is becoming indistinguishable. It's sad really. I think at the end of the day, KU will benefit from all this more than average but some schools are going to be huge benefactors while some will be greatly hurt. Next up will almost certainly be another conference realignment. But this one will change the whole way conferences are structured. It is straining the desire to continue to be a fan for sure.
