“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Our piss-poor shooting from the charity stripe didn't prove the difference, but it points to yet another deficiency of this year's team.
What is up with our lame free throw shooting?
Tonight we went 13-25 for a 52% team clip. FIFTY-TWO PERCENT???
Yet another thing we'd better tighten up if we hope to go anywhere this year...

I think this shows how much of the issue for the whole game is mental fatigue. FT shooting for these guys is all mental. All of them have the physical tools to shoot 75%. We did not look very energized at all.

I don't think it's "mental fatigue." I think it's simple lack of concentration. These guys are not having fun right now and it's affecting every aspect of their game.

I was so frustrated l did not post nor read the posts last night. The first chance I had to read was this afternoon and I went oldest to newest so I saw the free throw one before the others discussing the state of the team. Anyway that is how this ended up here rather than the other thread. I have no way of knowing what is happening with the guys but there was definitely no concentration nor enthusiasm last night. I think a lot of things can cause that including when winning becomes relief rather than joy. I agree that Hunters playing time is a mystery but I do not know if that is the cause of or has anything to do with the teams over all mental condition. I just know they need to get it fixed quickly because there is no easy games in this league.
