As Popeye would say, well blow me down!

Earlier today I had been thinking of a scenario that I called "A Miracle Happened", in which OKSt, Texas Tech and TCU all win this weekend despite the steep odds against it and Texas finished as the 6 seed in the Big 12 Tournament..

OKSt fulfilled the first part of that 3 part scenario today.

Despite not having injured Cade Cunninghan and Isaac Likekelu the entire game, and two other key players fouling out late in the game, OKSt came to Morgantown and left with the W over WVU! SMH -- must be college hoops!:woohoo:

As konza63 has already noted, the OKSt win means that KANSAS finishes second in the Big 12 and the 2 seed for the tournament.

WVU will either be the 3 or 4 seed, solely depending on whether or not tu wins at TCU.

Here is a snapshot of the latest seeding possibilities
TEAM	CONF	OVR	GL B12T SEED COMMENTs
Baylor	12-1	20-1	1 1 seed
KANSAS	12-6	19-8	0 2 seed
WVU	11-6	18-8	0 3 if tu L; 4 if tu W (tu/WVU split, BU swept both,
                              tu swept KANSAS)
Texas	10-6	16-7	1 3 if W; if L: 5 if Tech L, 6 if Tech W
OKSta	11-7	18-7	0 4 if tu L; 5 if tu W
T Tech	9-7	17-8	1 5 if W & tu L (Tech swept tu), 6 seed if lose
                              (Tech swept OU)
OU	9-8	14-9	0 7 seed
TCU	5-10	12-12	1 8 seed
KState	4-14	8-19	0 9 seed
IState	0-18	2-21	0 10 seed

OVR: Overall record
GL: Big 12 Games Left

TWO REMAINING BIG 12 SEASON GAMES

Sunday, March 7, 2021
Texas Tech @Baylor 3:00 PM CT ESPN
tu @TCU 6:00 P.M.CT ESPN+

Tech has had tu's number this season, so sorry Coach Beard, I want your guys to lose so they fall to the 6 seed. That way Tech ends up playing either tu if the horns win, or WVU if the horns lose.

Still, I am rooting for Jamie Dixon and TCU to pull off the upset of tu in Fort Worth tomorrow to keep tu at the 5 seed on the Baylor side of the bracket instead of the 3 seed on the KANSAS side.

Again, sorry, Coach Beard, more than I can say.

Just the fact that we're on the other side from Baylor is a win, in that it increases our chances for winning our 2nd game of the weekend. (And every additional win helps not only our March Madness resume, but also our gain on UK for all-time wins)

It's all very much up in the air, obviously, until today sorts itself out, but I'd prefer that KU see TT, WV, and UT in descending order of preference. For whatever reason, UT is a tough matchup for this year's KU. (I guess it's mainly their length and athleticism at each position - and their powerful center) But then again, we were within a hair of upsetting them in Austin last time, and it's tough for any team to defeat another competitive team 3 times in the same season - so if we draw them, so be it.

Baylor: Come "win or go home time" I am always happy to give somebody else the chance to knock off our top competition before we get the chance to play them. I know all the stuff about wanting to beat the best, and yeah, that is nice, but let's face it -- in the end surviving to play another day and then winning the last game for that go-round is EVERY player's dream, no matter who the other team on the marquee may be. The unranked 6 seeded 1988 Kansas Jayhawks took all kinds of "lucky team, dodging the bullets" bs since they didn't have to play 3 seed NC State in Round 2, 2 seed Pitt in Round 3 or 1 seed Purdue in the Midwest regional. But then those naysayers ended up stopping their grinnin' and checking their linen as the Jayhawks kept on winning against a 1 seed beating tough 4 seed in AP#20 KState, perennially tough 2 seed AP#5 Duke and finally 1 seed AP#4 OU to win the whole bloody thing in one of the greatest NCAA title games ever played. So I'm perfectly fine if KANSAS wins their last game in the Big 12 Tournament and its NOT against Baylor or whoever else ends up on that side of the bracket.

Texas: Third time against tu, either in the semifinals or the finals? I like our chances.
They are the second of two teams, along with Baylor, that I would prefer not to play, but hey, if the match up happens, ROCK CHALK, baby!

But FIRST -- take care of OU (most likely) or ISU (they going to earn that first W in Big 12 competition this year?)..

Don't look back (keep that PMA and keep on shooting!)
Don't look ahead (FOCUS!)
Just win today.
