"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Now an aside asking for your thoughts...
If (please no!) UTEP should manage to win tonight, how would this season ending loss be treated after 37 straight years of winning the final home game of the season?
It's not the usual final home game known as the Senior Game.
That 38 year streak continues after Saturday's solid win over Baylor.
The odds of UTEP winning are low, but not zero.
KANSAS is 12-1 in AFH this season, UTEP is 2-8 on the road and the Jayhawks are projected to win this game 95% of the time at this point of this season.
I, like you and most of the college basketball aware world outside of El Paso, expect the Jayhawks to win this game. But as they say, the upsets are why they play the game.
I would probably discount any loss tonight as the Senior Game streak continues and future Senior Games should once again be the last home game of the regular season.
But it sure will be nice to see another W after tonight and not have any nitpicking of the Senior Game v Final Home Game streak status.
Your thoughts, should the improbable happen?

To use a soccer term, I see this as a “friendly” and mostly an exhibition or formalized practice game.
We get to keep the rust off, and UTEP gets to play in Allen Fieldhouse as a bucket list item. Nothing more.

I agree with you, but you do not address my question.
Your thoughts on how to address the unthinkable should it occur?

As an aside, a KU win will reduce Kentucky's ATW lead to 5.

That may be temporary DB as UK plays a game this weekend against a beatable team.
Kidding aside, does UK ever have a senior night?

I lost interest in the streaks a couple years ago. No one but KU fans are even aware of or care about the streaks. We’ve had a couple big ones end, and my psyche wasn’t any worse for it. A loss here would mean a lot more for the team heading into the tourney than it would to our final home game win streak - in my own opinion.

I saw this as a way to get closer to win # 20. The Big 12 quarterfinal won't be a gimmie. The first game in Indiana will be against a pretty good team, Upsets happen somewhat regularly in 3-14, 4-13 & 5-12 games.

Thankfully the Jayhawks were able to come back and make the question a moot one.
Just win...
