And another KANSAS streak may actually survive the season.
The Senior game is usually the last regular season conference home game, but after last year (with no post-season at all for a team that had a real shot at NCAA title 4) and this year I don't really care.
The last Senior game that KANSAS lost was on Wednesday, March 2, 1983, when Big 8 foe Nebraska beat KANSAS 60-58 in what would be Ted Owens' last game as Kansas head coach in Allen Fieldhouse.
In the 37 years since then, Larry Brown's teams went 5-0, Roy Williams' teams went 15-0, and to date Bill Self's teams have gone 17-0 in the Senior game.
After losing the conference championship streak in 2019 and the AP Top 25 ranking streak this year, I had resigned myself to the very real possibility that the Senior streak would end this year as well. I am happy to see that the possibility of keeping this streak alive has greatly improved.
And of course, it goes without saying that I would love to see KANSAS finish the regular season on a two game winning streak!

Hoshi, I do think that was a factor in adding the additional game. There is the benefit of having the guys not sit for almost two weeks before the start of the Big 12 Tournament. Add in a shortened season to begin with, and then the improved chances for a happy last game in the Phog outcome for the seniors, and the downsides seem minimal.

As most are probably aware by now, the Senior Game is still on for Saturday when KU hosts Baylor, so the "Senior Game" streak is still very much in danger. Clearly a case of too much already planned to change the Senior Game to the UTEP game.
But do we now have the "last home game of the season" streak, parallel to but different from the Senior Game streak?
So KU could see the "Senior Game" streak end on Saturday, but still keep the "last home game of the season" win streak going?
Yeah, it's not the same.
But it is a thing.
