Will Baylor play 18 Big 12 games this year?

I’m thinking not.

With Saturday’s home game v OK St postponed, the Feb 23 home game against ISU will be their first game in 21 days.

They’ve postponed 5 games in a row now, and still have what was supposed to be their conference opener against Texas to reschedule as well. (Obviously the “postponed” Gonzaga game is effectively cancelled.)

They have to reschedule (if they can)

What happens if they can’t?

They stay undefeated.

They have the #1 seed in the B12 tournament (assuming that isn't cancelled).

They have a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

I think Ohio St football proved the covid regular season is one huge asterisk, and the best teams will be confirmed at the end of the season tournament, whatever that looks like.

It's just interesting that some teams have figured a clear path around covid (has KU lost a player to covid for one game this season?), but Baylor has lost half a season. Bad luck? Different protocols? Different overall plan to be ready for March?

I'm in general agreement with all the commenters, but I reckon my main thought was how many games do they have to win to be declared conference champs?

I know at this point they are practically uncatchable, and yes, they do look to be the best team in the Big 12, but how does the conference title get decided if they only end up playing 15 games v everyone else's 18?

Don't get me wrong, I think they are a lock, but I am curious about the non-normal criteria that will be used to determine the title.

It seems to me that they should play as many games that would officially clinch the title. If they are up 4 games in the loss column with 3 games to play, it is a moot point.
