At least in the AP; the Coaches Poll is not out yet as I post this.
Keep on trucking, guys!

Interesting that he said it, but I think everyone has known it for a couple years now.
I'm really struggling to see the path forward.
Larry Brown is a legend and brought us the 88 championship, by doing some sketchy stuff and bringing on sanctions. We recovered quite well, but Larry had to leave, making room for Roy to pick up the pieces and move forward.
Roy was very successful, but if he did sketchy stuff he kept it very quiet, and he left (sketchy in how he did that though) making room for Self.
Self has brought amazing success, streaks, records, and a championship, by doing some sketchy stuff that likely will end in sanctions against the team, and maybe even Self himself.
Is it time for Self to make room for the next guy to allow the historic program to move forward? I don't believe Self/Adidas did anything more or worse than a ton of other coaches and schools, and I won't think anything less of him than I do of Brown (love the guy), but for the good of the cause, is it time to part ways?
To make that question a little harder - or maybe easier, who knows - if it was more likely that the NCAA would move past this faster if Self accepted blame and left KU, would any of you support his leaving, or do you want him to stay no matter what?

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
AZ, you bring up an interesting question. I had not given a second thought to the possibility of Self leaving. After 18 years of being my coach, I have grown fond of him. But objectively speaking, he has frustrated me in the NCAA tournament. Statistically speaking, he is not particularly what would be labeled an significant underachiever, but he is unquestionably and underachiever, specifically in the Elite 8. Yet he is pretty clearly the king of the regular season. It is hard to fathom. So the thought of him leaving brings up a coupe, issues or thoughts.
1. He is a master of winning in the regular season, the best actually. Could we possibly replace that?
2. He is an underachiever in the NCAA but he is also a master of getting a great seed. So we might find someone who is a better tourney coach but doesn’t get the high seeds.
3. I don’t think I would miss the assistant coaching staff one bit. I trust Self with that but I think there are legitimate questions one could ask about the quality of our coaching staff at developing players.
4. Self is an amiable guy and seems to be well-liked and respected. I mean good grief, he is a HOF’er.
5. Who could possibly replace him and are the current AD and Chancellor competent to find the right guy. Bob Frederick was a 1 in a million.
6. Are we ready for the fallout of parting ways with a HOF coach?
No, I would vote for Bill to stay but would plant some seeds that he may need to revamp his assistant coaching staff.

I’m in lockstep with Corpus on this.
Thanks for stating it so well, CJ.

It'll feel better when it stops hurting
Self stays and hopefully will help shine a great big ole spotlight on what is really going on at ALL the major schools. I say he fights it until this becomes a landmark case and possibly even ends the NCAA as it is now.. It's not just the coaching staff that needs the change, it's the playing field. Until they treat UNC, Duke etc the same as everyone else, the system is rigged.
