KU has a bunch of good young players, but they aren't ready for this kind of game. Gonzaga is REALLy good, and this Suggs kid is terrific. Will be fun watching the kids develop, but I am concerned about the lack of size. McCormack is basically the only big, and he still appears to me to be, well, maybe a little above average.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
I agree with you on McCormack. Everyone else was about as expected or within the range. Big Dave was not good today. He looked slow and behind much of the day. Everyone else was about as advertised. Bryce was a little better than I thought he might be and Christian was maybe a little below what I expected.

Agree with your assessment. Zags are powerful offensively, with so many options. They benefit from having many returning starters to give some cover for the new guys learning their system.
Our new guys looked very good. And athletic.
In my opinion Mar Few is currently one of the best two or three overall coaches in college hoops. I love his offense, and the players seem to love it also. He gets great recruits, and their team is consistently very good.
We better figure out how to stop teams taking it to the rim. We got smoked today at the rim.

We play an unfamiliar opponent, go in as a slight underdog expecting to compete and then get hammered. 100 is a lot of points to give anybody on a neutral court.
I am curious how we look running five guards?

yes we gave up 102 points but we did score 90. I thought we showed we were the less organized team. We have much more to learn about playing other teams of this caliber than Gonzaga does. They were very good. I didn't think the Hawks were too bad but on this day and at this time they were not where they need to be. I don't know if they can be but I see some talent.

The end is nothing; the road is all.

I prepared myself emotionally for what promises to be a "building year." (Wearing my Kansas Jayhawks 2020 National Champions tee helped.) But is sure has been a looooooong time since we watched such amateurism in a Kansas jersey. Well, let's get out of this pandemic and build a new team (and recruit a 5-star big) and get ready for next year!

I'd like to see us drop the concept of the "big" and having to play inside out thru him. Dok is a once every 10-15 years type body, and one that no longer plays a significant role in modern basketball. He was fun to watch against most college kids, but if that's our focus and we don't have a Dok, I think we will continue to struggle to guard the modern versatile bigger players.
I'd much rather see what we saw from Zags yesterday - mobile big bodies who spread the floor with multiple scoring options.
