“No matter how bad the refs are, don’t throw stuff on the court!”
(paraphrased)

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

I was there in the mid 80s when Tubbs was in his prime at OU. Absolutely HATED that guy, way more than Norm at MU.

Still remember the white Tshirts with the tire tread printed on them after Tubbs got run over by a car. Classless on our part for sure, but man did it feel good to give it to that guy.

I now respect him and thank him for providing a great rivalry that made my time at KU so enjoyable.

I always enjoyed Billy. Yeah, he cut down the nets in AFH and that was less than cool. He ran up the score every chance he got and that is not ideal but as he said, if you don't want to lose then get better players (or something to that effect). He was outspoken and bombastic. But he was funny as hell and often gave the Jayhawks good respect. Here are a list of my favorite Big 12 coaches and least favorite.

Least Favorite
1. Kelvin Sampson - to this day never saw a legitimate foul called on his team and still believes the refs miss about 50 fouls on the other team every game.
2. Quinn Snyder -- Cheater and all around unlikable person
3. Ricardo Patton -- inferior complex much? Never (to my knowledge) gave KU any respect.
4. Scott Drew -- Can't really put my finger on this one. Just don't like him much.
5. Bruce Weber -- What's to like?
6. Larry Eustachy -- A truly unbalanced person. But a pretty dadgum good coach
7. Travis Ford -- Maybe the worst coach to ever coach in the Big 12.
8. Shaka Smart -- Talk about misfounded arrogance. But the schadenfreude is pretty nice, speaking of his results in the Big 12.
9. Jeff Capel -- He was such a mediocre coach it is hard to dislike him too much but it was his arrogance that turned me off.
10. Bob Knight -- a true love hate relationship
11. Billy Gillespie -- I know he is besties with Bill but the dude had (has) issues.

Favorites
1. Rick Barnes -- Genuinely nice guy
2. Eddie Sutton -- Lots of personal issues but genuinely nice guy and great coach
3. Mark Turgeon -- KU, duh!
4. Tad Boyle -- KU, duh! Seems to be getting better.
5. Chris Beard -- Dude can coach.
6. Norm -- Yeah I know, But I actually met him in London at the airport and he was extremely engaging and respectful of Kansas.
7. Fred Hoiberg -- Got a little full of himself but seems like a good guy and decent coach.
8. Bob Huggins -- WYSIWYG. The dude is genuine, I'll give him that. And he is a great coach
9. Lon Kruger -- Even nicer than Rick Barnes if that is possible
10. Mike Boynton -- Jury is still out, but he seems like he cares about his team and is pretty straight shooter.
11. Trent Johnson -- Okay, not a great coach but a decent one. And carried himself with class in a very difficult environment.
12. Tom Penders -- Met him and boy oh boy did he have respect for Kansas.
13. Bob Knight -- a true love hate relationship
14. Danny Nee - Not sure why, I just liked him. I guess because we beat Nebraska so badly so often
15. Doc Sadler -- A happy and likable guy
16. Billy Tubbs -- Maybe a controversial pick

Just So-So (no particular order)
1. Dave Bliss -- Seems like an okay guy but sort of so-so
2. Steve Prohm
3. Greg McDermott
4. Jim Wooldridge
5. Tom Asbury
6. Frank Martin -- seems like I should like him or hate him bit I am so-so
7. Brad Underwood -- Brad who?
8. Sean Sutton -- Hard to dislike a guy you feel so sorry for.
9. Jamie Dixon -- yawn!
10. Tubby Smith -- was he really as great as he was made out to be?
11. James Dickey -- much better assistant than head coach
12. Pat Knight -- Can thank Travis Ford or Pat would be the worst coach ever in the Big 12
13. Tim Miles - yawn
14. Barry Collier
15. Melvin Watkins
16. Billy Kennedy -- never seemed at home in the Big 12
17. Jeff Bzdelik -- very ambitious dude
18. Mike Anderson - yeah he was Mizzou but so what.
19. Frank Haith -- ditto Mike Anderson

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

That list is impressive in that it shows the longevity of KU coaches.

I have to put Weber at the top of my list of undesirables. His inescapable station as Bill Self's little brother, his whiny voice, his antics on the sidelines, his rapture at the injustice of every call, and throw in the KSt overwhelming inferiority complex to KU, and I just can't take the guy.

Scott Drew is second, in that he's just a punk.

I would agree with Corpus that Kelvin Sampson is my least favorite coach. Though I must admit I have never actually met any of them.
