“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits”. Albert Einstein
I think most of you have probably received notices of "The Jayhawker Podcast" put out by Brian Hanni and KU. I accessed the podcasts on Apple podcasts and have listened to all. I am in home quarantine due to travels to FL on business last W-F. So far so good.
The 10 that have been uploaded tp date are
1. Drew Gooden
2. Tyshawn Taylor
3. Scott Pollard
4. Jeff Boschee
5. Marion Washington
6. Devon Dotson
7. Gary Woodland
8. How Allen Fieldhouse Was Built (with Warren Corman)
9. Perry Ellis
10. Get to Know: Ochai Agbaji
Great series each 20-40 minutes long.
My favorites were the pieces on the building of AFH with one of the 8 architects, Warren Corman (a good friend), The story how they procured the steel for the roof beams was particularly interesting. I really enjoyed the interview with Marion Washington. At the end of her career, I was not a MW BB coaching fan but regained a lot of respect for her after listening to her interview. What she had to endure putting a KU women's sports program together was amazing. The interview with Gary Woodland was also enlightening.
I hope you enjoy the podcasts as much as I have.
What are your favorites?
PS. I did NOT enjoy the inclusion of a lot of religion based questions in Perry Ellis's interview. It seemed overdone.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Thanks, hoshi, I’ll check them out when we get home. We’ll have plenty of time.
Anna and I and left Auckland, NZ early this morning (Wednesday March 18) with a group of Jayhawk Alumni who were looking forward to being back home in time for the NCAA Tournament when we left for our adventures in Australia and New Zealand back on February 26. We’ve been following everything from afar — not just KU hoops, *everything* — and now we are all presently sitting in Sydney International Airport looking forward to 14 days quarantine at home upon our return — assuming we can get through our respective chokepoints (yes, chokepoints) in LA and SF.
We’ve had a great time, but we’re all looking forward to getting back with our loved ones with no complications along the way.
Take care of yourselves and your loved ones, Jayhawks, and we’ll try to do the same! Until next time...

Stay safe my friend/s, stay safe.
PS. Download the podcasts and listen on the plane. That 12 hour flight can be brutal.

Got audiobooks to listen to already on the phones. But when we get back (plus I don’t like Airport WiFi — isn’t the greatest).

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits”. Albert Einstein
Wayne Simien's podcast was just uploaded and as expected it was overly preachy both by WS and Hanni. On the other hand ,I gained some respect for post BB WS as I learned a lot about his values and the work he does. I always wondered why he never made it big in the NBA but now realize that it was due to a major illness (salmonella poisoning) but also it was not where his heart was. So he walked away by choice. There are people playing the game both in college and the pros who probably want to walk away but the all mighty $$ and what people would think of them or expect of them.
Also some interesting family history of why his mother wanted him to go to KU.

Thanks hoshi for posting about this and thanks HE for posting the link. I just listened to the first one with Drew Gooden and absolutely loved it. I was really impressed with Drew's spirit and how well-spoken he is. I liked him before, but even more now.
Looking forward to the others when I get time.

I would be interested to hear peoples comments about the various podcasts. I have my favorites and ones I was less fond of.
