NCAA.com: No. 3 Kansas hands top-ranked Baylor first loss since November behind Udoka Azubuike's dominating play
"The biggest men's basketball game of the 2019-20 regular season so far — and no, that's not hyperbole — took place Saturday. AP No. 1 Baylor (24-2) fell at home for the first time this season, losing 64-61 to AP No. 3 Kansas (24-3) in a rematch of a game that the Bears won by 12 points in Lawrence in mid-January."
kuathletics.com: Azubuike Powers Jayhawks Over Bears, 64-61
MOMENT OF THE GAME
After Baylor cut the KU lead to just three points, 56-53, with four minutes to play in regulation, two Jayhawk veterans stepped up and made plays that put just enough distance between themselves and the Bears. Marcus Garrett connected on two free throws before Udoka Azubuike netted a putback one minute later for his 11th and final field goal of the day to put his team up by seven points with just over two minutes remaining. From there, KU used more clutch free throw shooting, getting a pair each from Devon Dotson and Isaiah Moss in the final 34 seconds to stave off a late Baylor charge and seal the program’s first road win over an AP No. 1 team in over 60 years. ESPN.com: Kansas snaps Baylor's Big 12-record win streak
BIG PICTURE
Kansas: The Jayhawks, whose unprecedented run of 14 consecutive Big 12 titles ended last season, is tied for the conference lead again with four games left. They are 7-0 in conference road games, the same as Baylor.
Baylor: The Bears' 23-game winning streak had set a Big 12 record, one more than Kansas in 1996-97, the league's inaugural season. Baylor is now 6-1 against Top 25 teams this season, missing a chance to become only the second team in coach Bill Self's 17 season to sweep a regular-season series against the Jayhawks.
UP NEXT
Kansas is at home Monday night to play Oklahoma State, who the Jayhawks beat 65-50 on the road on Jan. 27.
Baylor is home again Tuesday night to play Kansas State.
