Devonte hit a three with 15:16 remaining and then again at the buzzer. Between those two shots Perry Ellis was the only Hawk to score a field goal.

That is just incredible. And horrible at the same time.

As Fraschilla is saying WVU's guards are shredding KU's defense, I was thinking that HCBS should try a zone...or maybe a box and one (Carter guarded)...b/c WV shoots so poorly from 3. It can't get worse, right?!

Only two non-3-ptr scored by anyone not named Perry...he's made 8 shots, rest of team 7.

A zone would be one option when you're getting shredded by the opposing guards. But Self is too beholden to man-to-man D to adjust to that. Even on a night like tonight, when our guards are getting beaten like a drum.

1) not if you don't practice it
2) you think we're getting beat on the offensive boards now, wait until we play zone

And we don't practice it why?

Because he's too beholden to M2M and won't adjust!

He has limited practice time. He's gonna use it to optimize the team's overall best chance to win. If he wastes that time on a defensive style he'll use on rare occasion then it hurts his overall defense. Same argument for going past 8-9 man rotation.

The team was horrible. Actually, last night's game may have been one of the 2 or 3 worst games I've ever seen us play. 22 turnovers is all we need to know. Our guards looked like high schoolers. I am going to forget about it, because it had to be an anomaly. What is amazing is that playing as badly as we did, on the road, against a really good team, we only lost by 11. Imagine if we had actually hit our FTs. I wouldn't want to be Frank Mason or Wayne Selden today. Or pretty much anyone other than Perry. It was the 1st time I've ever turned a KU game off before it was over. It was so bad, I don't even feel pain today.
