Sometimes we seem to worry about where our guys' heads are at, as evidenced by the "trap game" discussion. Saw this quote today from Graham at KUSports regarding where we are in the conference race:

"In the league, we are really not at the top. We've won both home games. West Virginia has won two on the road (at TCU, at KSU). They are really plus two ahead of us. We have to focus on winning on the road. It's going to be tougher to win those games."

Time Off Article - KUSports

Not sure if he's just regurgitating what the coaches are telling the team, or if he came up with this himself, but in any case it shows how the guys are likely looking at things. Home wins need to be expectations. Road wins are where you win championships.

They're 2-0 in the conference, just established themselves as the #1 team in the land by slogging it out against the other #1 for 55 minutes, and the attitude appears to be that it's still not good enough. Good to see.

glad that I was not the only one thinking that way. We need this win and if we could take the WVU game that would be HUGE!

Because we would both be have 2 road wins, but they would have a home loss. I won't say that going 4-0 gives us the crown, but it goes a loooooong way to making the rest of the league chase us!

Yep, definitely good to see!

In that other post, which then turned into a completey separate debate over whether this was a trap game (I don't view it that way, but that doesn't matter), the only point I was making was that TT used to be a "gimme" when the schedule was released. Not at all this year, especially in their house.

The Big 12 has very few "gimmes" this year, and every team jacks up the volume higher against us. I expect a win, as stated, but was hoping for a relaxed viewing experience in this one instead of a close nail-biter. The ISU-TT game suggested it might be the latter. With the players evidently locked in and fully aware, I'm hoping we take it to them early and don't let them hang in, thinking they have a chance. That's when teams like this are most dangerous.

That is great to hear coming from one of the key components of this team. Just because an upcoming game may appear to be one that might be overlooked for one reason or another if there is a loss of focus doesn't make it a given that will happen. When you have the attitude that regardless of what you and the team have done to date isn't enough and that there is plenty of unfinished business to take care of, folks can have some assurance that the proper focus is being maintained. Not to say they can't still hit the road and take a loss, but if it does, it will likely be for other reasons than just not taking the business at hand seriously.

Interesting to get their perspectives on how to handle the recuperation from a game like the last one where both mental and physical limits were being tested. Glad for their sake they have had a quiet week to recharge.

The rest thing is certainly interesting, and they sure earned it. That being said, a lot of guys didn't get that many minutes, so I think the rest day is as much psychological as it is physical. There's also such thing as TOO MUCH rest, so I'm glad to see that they were back in the gym on Wednesday.

Sometimes after a big physical output, even 48 hours later your body doesn't want to go, but if you push it a little, you can actually recover more quickly than if you're just sitting on the couch.

Anyway, they'll be physically good to go tomorrow, and with the right attitude, I expect good things.

My conference standings page shows these numbers, if you're interested. It also lists the game-by-game conf. results for all the teams. Find if from the menu at the top, under '2015-16 Season.'

I've done it this way for quite a while. But the first time I saw it was from the former poster Psyclone. He had a website which showed all the results in a matrix.
