Getting ready for next fall again.:)

Data in the table is the final data for AY2018-19 season.

Self will start the AY2019-20 season needing 117 wins -- roughly 4 seasons if KU continues at its current pace --
to tie the great Dr. Forrest C. "Phog" Allen as the winningest head coach in KU Men's Basketball history.

Last season's edition of this tracker can be found here. .

SELF'S RECORD AT THE START OF THE AY2019-20 CAMPAIGN
WON-LOST
  as KU HC NAME (W-L%) CAREER (W-L%)
1. 590-219   Phog Allen (.729)   746-264 (.739)
2. 473-106   BILL SELF  (.817)   680-211 (.763)
   117 = Wins to tie Phog
SELF'S PROJECTED "PASS YEAR": AY2022-23*
AY2018-19 final record was 26-10 (only the 2nd time in 16 seasons a Self KU team has lost >9; AY2013-14 was 25-10).

*The "Pass Year" projection for Bill passing Phog as the all-time winningest KU coach assumes KU averages 30 wins a season from the AY2019-20 season on, and that he will continue to coach for KU beyond his current contract, which ends with the AY2021-22 season.

is the average seasonal W-L record for Self's KU teams over the last 13 seasons. (AY2006-07 thru 2018-19;
AY2006-07 roster was first "Self squad", Jeremy Case was the sole remaining Williams' recruit.)
29.6-6.6 is his average seasonal W-L record for his entire KU career (includes his first 3 seasons at KU).
KU would have to win at least 37 games in AY2019-20 to make his KU career average 30 wins a season or better.

The UW-Milwaukee game was Self’s 900th game in his D1 coaching career. He’s at 588 games coached at KU, so will hit 600 this year, and odds are good he will get KU win #500 this year as well.

I can almost relate to Wernher Von Braun* as I slowly count down ...
