As of now, KU and WVU are the only 2-0 teams in the league. Tech is 1-0, but they go to Ames tomorrow and I have to believe that ISU will win at home. KSU and TCU are 0-2, and if history is any kind of predictor to the future, you need to be at 14-4 to win the league, or worst case 13-5. That puts KSU and TCU halfway to "out of the race".

We play at Tech on Saturday, and should beat them (taking no road games for granted). WVU has OSU in Morgantown, which should be a win for WVU. OU will beat the Kitties on their trip to Norman (KSU will be 0-3 and facing probable elimination from a title shot). ISU hosts Baylor which should be the most exciting game of the weekend out of the contenders (Texas at TCU being the only other remaining game...nod to Texas).

So not trying to trump Asteroid's predictions here, KU and WVU should be 3-0 by Sunday morning, with OSU, Baylor, ISU, and Texas all in the hunt for being a game back at 2-1. The field begins to narrow. All of this sets up a HUGE game for KU at WVU a week from tonight (1/12) with sole posession of the conference lead hanging in the balance.

No rest for the weary. We need to win twice on the road in the next 7 days, and with WVU being one of those, it's likely to be a wild ride....and that's just taking us into mid-January.

For the most part agreed. I hope however we are looking ahead and NOT looking past Tubby's guys in Lubbock. They are a good team this year. Do I still think KU should win Saturday? Sure. Not the gimme it has been in years past though.

I absolutely agree. No road games are gimmies in our league. Nevertheless Tech isn't like going to Morgantown or Norman either.

But you're correct. After the game the other night, we certainly can't afford any kind of let down.

Hey, NotO---

Liking your avatar a LOT! Looks like O is a bronc rider! Who is "the bronc" in this photo?

Wheaty can barely recognize O and "Fear Raef"....she has no hope of recalling a cyclone from that many years ago!

Thanks.

I don't know, Wheaty. I need to go look at the rosters from back then, and haven't had a chance. I just had a little time to fill out my profile last night, and googled images of the real deal and came across that one. Looks like an offensive foul to me, btw. Could never trust those Cyclones ducking under and then lifting our guys off the floor like that.

Anyway, loved the picture and now it's there. I'll see if I can get any info. Raef looks like a kid too....probably because he was, lol.

BTW, the NotO tag came from a city-league game out here in NYC shortly after I moved out here after college. I was a tall blond kid with a buzz cut wearing KU shorts, and some guy on an opposing team referred to me as "Ostertag" and I took it as a compliment.

Glad that I'm not the only one who sees this as good defense while taking a charge.

Yeah, I had to jigger with the format of the photo to get it to look ok...jpeg vs. bmp vs. whatever else, editing and trying to get it down to an acceptable file size.

The first thing I thought of wasn't good defense, but rather this:

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.

And it's the same thing when I saw THIS as well!
