They are beating contucky in the "red stick."

Talking heads say they have the second coming of lebron james, but I'm still impressed with Heild,

I have it on in the background, and it's such a stark contrast to the beautiful game we watched last night that it's difficult to watch. In fact, the studio guys just made that observation at the break. Ugly, ugly bball!

Real enough to beat UK, but that may not be saying much. LSU has a starting Sr guard back (Hornsby) and a transfer Craig Victor II - neither played during 3 of their losses. Victor trf from Arizona - he played with Kelly Oubre at Findlay Prep. Tonight had 15 & 12, Hornsby had 9 & 4 reb. A more definitive answer should come when OU plays them at LSU on Jan 30th. Ufortunately, due to the imbalance in SEC (14 teams) vs Big 12 (10 teams), the only currently unbeaten team (SC) isn't in the SEC-Big 12 Challenge - bummer.

For real? Not in a million years. Lousy team with one terrific freshman. Mediocre coach. Kentucky is not a good team, also with a mediocre coach. Simmons made a huge mistake going to LSU. May not even make the NIT.

Senex68 - since you seem have all the answers, who is going to win the SEC?

May have been a mistake in terms of winning a championship or getting the kind of TV exposure another program would give him, but as of now he's still the leader in the clubhouse looking to be the #1 draft pick. Unless somebody does something pretty spectacular (i.e. Hield has a couple more games like he did this week) he's likely to either stay #1, or not drop out of the top 3. In essence, he's playing an exhibition season as he waits to go pro.

Time will tell, I suppose.

One other note, LSU did a 4-game Australian tour this preseason (Simmons is from Australia). Makes you wonder if that was a.) already on the schedule and b.) if it influenced his decision. If not, I don't think the NCAA would be ok with scheduling a foreign tour just to placate a player, or to use as recruiting leverage (or maybe they'd be ok with it). So maybe, and without knowing the background here, he thought that LSU was "good enough", that he'd be the biggest thing since Shaq there (big fish/small pond), liked the food in Baton Rouge, and got a free trip home to play in front of his childhood friends. That kind of package might be more attractive than a Black Studies Curriculum from UNC, or getting to skip the SATs if he went to UK. ;)

I'll let Senex answer JR's question, but to your point, NotO, on why he came to LSU, I have no idea if it's true or not, but my 11-year-old informed me last night (smile) that Simmons was recruited to LSU by his godfather or sponsor (?), and my son proceeded to point him out on the bench (as an Asst. Coach) shortly thereafter. Obviously that would be a defining factor if true. And again, I have no idea where my son heard that, and he's only 11, so take it with a grain of salt. (Could be playground banter among his hoops buddies, but he often knows a lot more scuttlebutt than I do--haha!)

Hi SenEx...

Really like your avatar.....

It seems like the board members (except for perhaps WSG) are uploading some really cool avatars.

For those of you who think my avatar is straight out of "Cat Fancy"........ I have been trying to find a different Avatar (although I do love my handsome boy's photo).....but all of my photos are too big/dense...I'll keep trying.

It's true, but I don't know when they hired that coach. The godfather was a BB teammate of Simmons' father in Australia back in the day.

Well whatever the reason, I like the idea of these OAD players diversifying where they land a little. Not a huge proponent of all they bring to a school like KU, but also don't like how UK runs the scheme...

Share the wealth, manage risk, and give a school a nice bit in the spotlight. A good day to be an LSU fan in any case.
