Hopefully we won over some recruits tonight! Prime time, #1 playing #2, OU playing the game of their lives, the Barn roof blowing off, Vitale saying it's the loudest arena he's ever experienced, and pulling out a triple OT thriller. Self should call those recruits tomorrow and close the deal!

You could tell how much our guys like and respect him from the handshake line. Loved his post game interview with SVP, and the way our fans treated him.
When he got to 46, i told my son that I couldn't recall any individual putting up that many in our house. Durant was upper 30s back in the day, and Peeler went off one time for 40-plus.
But that had to be close to the record, if not an actual record.
What a game. Ali-Frazier (fights 1 and 2) through regulation, followed by the Thrilla in Manila with the 3 OTs!

I know Perry had a great game as well but I gotta give my MVP vote to Frank the tank, shutdown Mason. Guy limited Hield and made two game changing plays. Now the refs only got one of them correct but at least they got the one that mattered the most right. 6/4 in A/TO wasn't great but the 3 steals made up for some of those TOs.
I was ready to revoke Graham's scholarship in the first half. I thought the moment might be too big for him. But he did come through in big moments after the break.
Thought Selden was huge as well. Maybe its just me but it seems Wayne is the only player willing to go AT the defense. Lots of guys drive but finish with off balance or fall away shots. Maybe Wayne needs to teach a remedial "this is how we get to the FT line" class?
Clueless as to how Hunter starts the game and finishes with 9 minutes and 0 PFs????
Overall a great W that will be of great importance in the final Big 12 standings I'm sure.

But I most enjoyed when they went to SC after the game and it was a we were going to talk about the guy from NC that scored a million points and had a hundred thousand rebounds first, but back to Holly and the instant classic in Kansas.
Yea,yea,yea, keepin' the faith

In terms of confidence, however, this has to be a huge shot in the arm to our guys. OU played great and never gave up, and neither did our guys. Every time they got hit with diversity, they found a way to come back. This truly was a game where it was too bad that somebody had to lose (of course I'm glad it was them and not us).
I know that they gave the player of the game award to Perry, but I think even he'd agree that the biggest contributor his own team's success was Heild. He's phenomenal and seems like a great person as well.
Speaking of Heild, I thought that Frank did a particularly good job guarding him. The stat line won't show it when a guy drops 46 on you, but the number of times that OU wanted to go to him but couldn't because of Frank's ball denial was impressive. The fact that Heild still got his points speaks volumes. If Frank can defend like that the rest of the season, we'll be in really good shape.
This win puts us in a very good position in the conference race, as not many teams are going to beat OU this year, and we can probably afford to split with them in Norman. I also think that this outcome puts both OU and KU on the map as two very serious FF contenders. Despite the loss, I don't think OU should drop out of the #2 spot in the rankings (not that I get a vote). Playing 3 OTs on the road and losing by 3 shouldn't hurt them at all.
The refs were appalling. The call just before halftime on a very clean Mason block/steal that resulted in Self's getting T-ed up, and a 3 point swing was infuriating, as was the over-the-back call on Lucas after Frank nearly had his head torn off. On the former, the camera flashed to Mason and Heild standing together afterward, and it almost looked like Heild was telling Frank that it was a clean steal. Obviously can't confirm that.
The only other complaint in my book goes to the Musberger/Vitale combo. Vitale was his typical annoying self, but didn't really infuriate me. Musberger, however, simply needs to be put out to pasture. In addition to the ever-annoying "THE Allen Fieldhouse" references (show me anywhere in the history of the place where there's been a "the", Brent), but he just doesn't seem prepared or aware of what's going on. He mispronounced "Diallo" repeatedly, which shows that he did zero homework before the game, and I can't tell you how many times he was just wrong..about calls, not knowing if something was a foul or a turnover, not properly identifying players, etc. Even at the end, he seemed confused about the idea of fouling OU in the last possession, thinking that Vitale was somehow advocating fouling the 3 point shooter. Even in terms of regular play-by-play, as a viewer I'd like to know the following when there's a whistle: 1.) is it a foul? 2.) if so, who committed it? 3.) how many fouls is the guilty party now charged with? I really think that if ESPN ran the game on another network with no announcers, they'd get better ratings than anything with Musberger calling it.
Anyway, great game and great win for the program. Clearly the best game of the year in D-1 this year so far. Might end up being the best game of the entire regular season when all's said and done.

Somebody on this board (Dave?) turned me on to Bob and Dave (KUathleticsleanplayer.com) and I have found it syncs well with my DTV video. Moreover, I wear light headphones so the house stays quiet much to the appreciation to Cal Bear wife and two cats.

One minor point: I believe I read that the infamous KU-UNC game was held at old Municipal Auditorium in KC, not at Allen.

There are 2 solutions. You can buy the sports delay radio, which has a slider for up to a 30 second delay. Then you run a line from your computer to the radio's input. It works fine, but the radio isn't cheap. And mine broke about a year in.
Or, if you have two audio cards or another computer handy, you install a free app for delaying the sound. One audio card (or more likely, computer) tunes in the game, then you run a line to the input of the other computer which is running the delay app. Works perfectly and very easy to sync.
Or, maybe now some company is producing a cheap speaker with adjustable delay.
