"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Will address my subject line in a minute.
First, an observation-- I don't often find Bilas to appear openly biased toward his alma mater, but he sure sounded like he wanted to give the dookie every benefit of the doubt until he couldn't. And his acceptance of the ref's explanation of the technical after assumingly seeing the same video we see in the link is disappointing.
Where I disagree with the refs -- they ruled it a deadball technical instead of a flagrant foul because they ruled it occurred after the whistle had blown. I do NOT know how often a ref blows the whistle significantly ahead of raising his arm to signal a foul, but in the video angles where the ref calling the foul is clearly visible, it is obvious that he raises his arm well after the dookie raises his elbow -- the latter which, to my objective eye, appears to happen at the same time as Robinson reaches in. Makes the "after the whistle" ruling a gift to Duke. It also appears to me that in the angle shot showing the ref from the front, he made no physical sign of any sort that he was going to call a foul until the dookie had already clocked Robinson and was "turning the corner".
The dookie should have been slapped with a flagrant 2 and ejected, and they know it. Has the dookie been given enough flagrants this year that another means an automatic minimum suspension?
Cheapens the game not calling it properly when the evidence is so clear.

I agree with your assessment, Eric. Flagrant 2 is the only call warranted there.
There is some solace however. Duke lost the game. Alas no meteor.

Replete with fake "tossing the head back" to simulate he was the victim. This punk is due for an old fashioned beat down,

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
I like the shot of him giggling about it over at the Duke bench. Apparently it was hilarious to him.
Pathetic. I'd really, really like to see him get leveled by somebody. I imagine that'll happen at some point at the next level if he doesn't change. Punk.

My negative feelings about Allen may have played a role in this, but after watching several times, it looked like Grayson definitely raised his arm to smack Robinson. This guy can be a good sport for only awhile, then his true colors show.
