Praise for Graham for being aggressive and doing things to help the team win, even thought his shot wasn't falling.

That really shows the character (and maturity) of a player IMO. When things aren't going your way, find a way to make a positive difference for your team. That attitude keeps the ball moving the right direction and when you're focused on something else besides what is wrong, you aren't becoming a liability to the effort overall.

The Devonte that we saw in the final minutes of regulation (and then in OT) is the Devonte I have been hoping would come back out of his shell. It's the Devonte that carried KU in that crazy shootout in Norman last year, and for much of March and into the tourney. He is a difference-maker when he plays aggressively, believes in his capabilities, and brings the swag. And when you throw that Devonte into the mix with Frank, Josh, and Landen, it makes us exceptionally hard to beat. I think Huggins and the WVU players were absolutely shocked at the plays he was making to help KU come back in that game. Simply because KU hadn't fully needed that Devonte to bust out prior to that.

On Hawk Talk last week, Self said that Graham hasn't been as aggressive or in "attack" mode this season, though he's had a very solid year. He said he hoped that the WVU game was a turning point for DG in that regard, for the reasons stated above. We just become that much more difficult to plan for and deal with with so many superb and challenging options on the floor.

And even when he wasn't hitting his shots at Baylor, the mere fact that he was taking them and being aggressive there and in so many other ways was telling. He's got the swag back. Hope it continues!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
