The first basketball game in KU history was played on the road against KC YMCA. Final score: KCY 16, KU 5
Head coach: Dr James Naismith, who was also referree for the game.

First 3 points scored in KU history were on a free throw and then a basket by William Sutton.

Rock Chalk, Jayhawks!

No, but Perry Ellis was and he said it was just peachy!

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.

Come on, Bay, you remember -- Perry had to drink Shirley Temples because everyone recognized him!
