“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Too bad it didn't matter!
PS: Next time any of us get down about "flyover country" or insufficient respect for our program, just remember the above video from last night, and what it says about how intensely the current #1 all-time winningest program (and its fans) view Kansas basketball. Also keep in mind the broadcasters' comments last night that last night's game was the hardest ticket to buy on the secondary market in UK basketball history.
Rock Chalk, baby!

I find pre-game rituals interesting
I believe you said yesterday, Brother Bay, our pre-game video is pretty darned impressive, even awe inspiring!
AND we don't have to give someone a microphone center court to scream "let's get ready for round all." (Anyway I presume that's what he said as "let's get ready to rumble" is probably copyrighted or trademarked...whichever applies.)
Did I say I hate KenYucky? And we have a trip to the octagon of dumb coming up.....I hate the grapes, purps, too!

Wheaty, from personal experience of being sued by him, the guy in the video is Michael Buffer, who actually owns the "Let's get ready to rumble" trademark. Last night he said "Let's get ready for roundball", in deference to the game.
He makes several hundred thousand dollars a year licensing his "rumble" trademark, and he very aggressively sues anyone who uses it without getting the license. Not a bad guy, but just protects his mark and makes a lot of money doing so.
