Amazing how valuable Coach K is. He leaves and the team falls apart. If I recall correctly, same thing happened several years ago when he missed the season due to illness. I think they failed to make the tournament.
My prediction is that Grayson has an epic meltdown before the season ends. Coach K was the only thing keeping Grayson from losing his control completely, and the refs are letting him get knocked around a little.

You are correct AZ, it was a little over 20 years when Pete Gaudet filled in for him. See this link for the K/Gaudet split:

... 1995 was the last time...that the Wolfpack won in Cameron.
Coincidence?
Probably not.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Love to see Duke not play well....but (there's always a "but")...I also like to see teams we've beaten do well for the rest of their year to help boost our SOS and make a strong case for a high seed in the big dance.
Doesn't matter much though...if we win the Big 12 the rest should take care of itself. Big game tonight in that regard.
One other thing to consider: if Duke falls to a 2 or 3 seed, they'll be a very tough 2 or 3 seed who might end up in the same bracket as us. Worse would be 4 seed, since that creates a 1 vs. 4 matchup to get into the elite 8.

Your closing scenario would be very bad, so I hope it doesn't happen. By the time Coach Kokomokawasaki returns from his back thingy, and they get more cohesion from all of those McD players, they will be an exceptionally dangerous draw for all teams.
