Clearly we are using a 5 man rotation with Vick and Bragg coming in when we are desperate. We are so much more effective with our starters in. We seriously need the bench to come alive a little more. Mostly we are suffering on defense with our reserves in.

Best +/-: Lucas (12)
Offensive Effectiveness: Vick (2.40 points per minute)
Defensive Effectiveness: Jackson (1.81 points per minute)
Overall Effectiveness: Lucas (0.399 points per minute)
Delta: Graham (1.019)

As a reminder, here are the definitions and uses of this data.

+/-: This is the scoring differential during the minutes a player is in the game. Obviously, this will be affected by minutes played. This is usually indicative of a players overall contribution in the game.

KU Pts/Min: This is the rate at which KU scores per minute when a player is in the game. "Rate" implies effectiveness. This sort of normalizes against the minutes played so it is more a measure of a players contribution to the teams scoring effectiveness.

Opp Pts/Min: This is the rate at which the opponents score when a player is in the game. This is a measure of the defensive effectiveness.

+/-/Min: This is the overall scoring differential per minute played. This gives an indication of how well a player contributes to the overall scoring differential during the time he plays. Since it is a rate it implies effectiveness normalized to minutes played.

x-Min: this is the total minutes a player is NOT in the game.

x-(+/-): This is the team scoring differential during the time a player is NOT in the game.

x-(+/-)/Min: This is the scoring rate per minute that the opponents score when a player is NOT in the game.

Delta: This is the most interesting number. This is the difference the (+/-)/Min and the x-(+/-)/Min. This is the difference in effectiveness between when a player is in the game and when the player is not in the game. This is sort of indicative of the player that is most critical to stay on the floor (not necessarily the best player though). The thing to understand here is that when a player goes to the bench the difference in how the team performs will be largely dependent on that players replacement. So when Frank goes to the bench and Vick comes in there is a drop off but there may be more of a drop off when Lucas goes to the bench and Bragg comes in. So even though Mason may have better numbers, the team is not hurt as much when he is replaced by Vick as it is when Lucas is replaced by Bragg. So Lucas may end up with a lower effectiveness but a higher delta.

A Stat that I like for judging offensive effectiveness is points per shot attempt. It is not a tell all stat but it gives you an idea of how much a person dominated the shots taken. In the end Frank had 22 points on 16 shots and Jawun had 15 points on 22 shots. I would say Frank wins that. I feel that you should be at least 1 to 1 on this stat.
