“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
On another note, what a luxury and plus-up it is to have LaGerald playing so well! We all knew and heard about his athleticism and his being primed to play a decent role this year. But talk about stepping in with practically zero veteran experience and playing like a junior! The kid is dynamic and a really special addition. He makes KU that much more whole, balanced, and dangerous.
Hats off to Vick. Keep it up, lad!

Visualize Whirled Peas
His first couple of games had me wondering what the heck was going on. He put up so many bricks, we could have built a fire station.
But he settled in after getting the start and is knocking them down. I just want consistency out of him at this point. Hopefully he and Svi are going to settle in now. We need to see their shooting happen against good competition. Then I will feel good about both of them.
Having said that, both are playing pretty solid D. That is always going to warrant minutes

He's a freshman, for all intents and purposes, given how little PT he got last year. To go from that to a starter this early in the season speaks volumes about his progress, in games and obviously with the coaches in practice.
I hope he keeps it up and advances further as he becomes more comfortable. He could be a huge X factor this year, parriclularly since Self will be relying on a smaller lineup this year as his go-to attack.

He has had fire in his eyes the last couple games. Fire or maybe confidence.
