KU lands commitment from 4-star Dallas PG Marcus Garrett
"The 6-foot-5, 180-pound point guard from Dallas’ Skyline High committed to the Jayhawks on Monday night..."
"He’s a legitimate point guard with tremendous size and strength to ward off defenders when he attacks the lane," Bossi wrote. "He got to the rim pretty much whenever he wanted to, drew fouls and also mixed in some deep jumpers. But what stands out most is his high basketball IQ and feel for the game."

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
ESPN oddly doesn't have him in their Top 100 (even though LJW says he's #44 in Rivals), so I can't garner any info from that source.
Here's another KC Star item (Newell) on the kid.

From what little I've digested on him (but no in-depth scouting reports), he has good court IQ and is a talented passer with good vision. His coach and others praise him as a multi-positional defender, and not a ball hog. Bottom line, from all we can tell: he's not the flashy 5-star, but a nice building block in what promises to be (must be) a very large 2017 recruiting class. However, at 6'5/180, the kid definitely is going to need to put on some muscle weight. That is thin as a reed.
