"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
With texkan, Mrs. tk and #2 son coming to Lawrence, some of us got together at hoshi's for a little grub, drink and Rock Chalk talk. Thanks to hoshi and Mrs. h for hosting!
In addition to the above 5 folk, attendees were:
- Dare (brother to Mrs. h and a KU guy of long standing, graduated a year ahead of me, soon to be back on the RCB)
- gorillahawk and his sister (now a Lawrence local who these days is leaning more toward the C&B than the purple of her youth)
- DocHawk and Mrs. DocHawk
- Mrs HE and yours truly.
Freestate69 and his better half had to cancel at the last minute, but hope to be able to attend any future such confabs (we missed you, guys, and texkan sends a big "HI!")
We went simple this time around, with sandwiches ordered from Yello Sub (yummy!) and everyone bringing beverages. The weather was wonderfully temperate (partly cloudy, 80F, occasional gust of wind) and the setting beautiful on the hoshi family patio. Great time and place to " talk story " with everyone about family, life and of course, all things KU hoops!
Here are the pics from the "picnic" -
(Unfortunately DocHawk had to leave before any pics were taken -- duty called -- so he is conspicuous in his absence below. Next time, Doc!)
texkan and family
Mrs DocHawk, gorillahawk and hoshi
Mrs HE joins the others!
texkan checking out the smartphone, Mrs hoshi & gorilla sis laughing at an aside and Dare drinking it all in
Dare and HE grinnin' it up (after this shot of HE, the camera mysteriously refused to work any more )
Thanks to all who attended for coming, and thanks again to the hoshis for hosting!
ROCK CHALK!

Thanks for the pictures, HE! It's nice to see the faces of the names that we know so well.
