"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Matt makes a sound argument for why Diallo, despite not hiring an agent yet, won't be back.

The only monkey wrench I can see in his argument is if Diallo learns he probably won't be round 1, and thinks the national exposure of another year at KU, with a chance to play and show his stuff, would boost his chances to be a solid round one pick the next year. That gamble could pay off handsomely for him. Of course, playing in Europe next year could do the same thing for him, so Tait is probably right that Diallo's gone - especially since that is the message coming from Diallo's people. That and the fact that apparently Diallo is no longer texting Self as he used to do.
Cheick, we hardly knew ye...

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
I wish Cheick all the best, but I do worry that this won't end well for him.
He lacks fundamentals, court IQ, and experience, and those things are hard to get at the next level (i.e., if you don't come in with them in the first place).

Mongo just pawn in game of life.
Has any player ever left college so raw and then made it into the NBA later? Embiid hasn't even played yet due to injury, but he was an honest 7' and wasn't nearly as raw as Diallo, IMO.
I've never understood the NBA. "They" say the NBA drafts on potential, but looking at Senex's (friend's) comments on Selden's draft prospects over the past few weeks, Selden's potential never changed during the past season, so how could his draft status have gone up and down?
I thought Diallo was a good kid, but I'm seeing his odds of getting an NBA job as very low and taking those chances makes me doubt his decision-making at least. I wish him the best but I'm not expecting that.

I am wondering if the IQ extends beyond the BB court!
