TEAM WINS LOSSES %
KANSAS 385 83 0.823 in 13 seasons
Season Avg 29.6 6.4 0.823
CAREER 592 188 0.759
Season Avg 25.7 8.2 0.759 in 23 seasons
In AY2016-17 Self should pass 600 career wins in the nonconference season.
It is almost certainty that Self will pass 400 wins at KU during the conference season.
Note that if he can manage to guide KU to another 33 or more win season in his 14th year at the helm, he will tie or pass Roy Williams (418-101 in 15 years at KU) for 2nd winningest coach in KU history, trailing only Phog Allen (590-219).
We should all give our thanks to Bill Self for the masterful coaching job he has done at KU, and particularly in this year, when he has deservedly been named national Coach of the Year by multiple entities .
Here's to AY2016-17 being yet another opportunity for Jayhawk fans everywhere to enjoy another great ride!

Then Phog Allen is a failure by your standard.
During his career the NCAAT was held 18 times.
He made the FF 3 times in that span which can be considered some success, but he only won once.
He only got Kansas into the tournament 4 times in those 18 years.
In those same 18 years he won the conference title 9 times.
The ONLY reason he retired after the 1956 season was because as a state employee he was forced to due to his age.

HCBS and his team's have had tremendous success at KU, but come the tournament why hasn't this translated into more FF's? You asked the question, who are HCBS's counterparts, and I answered. I would like to hear an answer why HCBS and his team's struggle in the EE? Is it because he gets flummoxed and it rubs off on his team's?
I understand the different eras, and that's part of my point. Phog had a conference champs that didn't make the NCAAs. Given the different eras, that has to be a comparable standard.
And no, I did not ask who his counterparts are, I asked what standards would you use to measure success?
You ignore everything but FFs, which is totally unrealistic.
