Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
They were clearly a better team and Wright may be the best game coach in basketball. Ellis had an off night. No Ellis had a non-night. Selden just couldn't hit a 3 pointer. They were without question the better team tonight. KU was a bit overrated this season but this was a great season and a very good team. We are a very good team with very good talent but not a great team and not great talent. I feel bad for Perry for being pathetic in the most important game of his amazingly great career. Can we start talking next year now?

I disagree. We played horribly and still could have won the game. This was simply a case of Ellis not performing, and Selden forgetting how to shoot 3s. Sometimes you lose to a better team, but this team defeated itself, again. It was nerves I suspect, which I really don't understand considering the experience of the players.
The only 'good' thing to come out of this game is the increased likelihood that Selden returns. Otherwise, very, very disappointing. And it pretty well guarantees that Ellis will not be a 1st round pick. So this hurts on multiple levels, for multiple people, far more than it hurts us.

Villanova was geared to making someone besides Perry beat them. He often was triple-teamed and whenever he moved toward the basket other players came flying at him. We just couldn't get anyone besides Graham going consistently. Even then, if there hadn't been that lapse midway through the 2nd half where Villanova had a 10-0 run. If it had just been a 6-0 run, it would have made a big difference.

Actually I thought the guys played a good defensive game. I don't know why they missed so many open shots. If even one had gone in early, it might have loosened them up a bit.

Kansas had a bad game but a great season. I totally disagree that we were overrated, I feel KU was the best team in the nation during the course of the season but certainly not tonight. Things just didn't go the Hawks way and we didn't execute when we needed to and Nova did. A big surprise to me was that I thought if we lost it would be because of the way the Wildcats were shooting the three. Other than the two big back to back threes that really was not the key to their victory. Selden played great in the second half but just couldn't get his shot to fall. 'Nova did a super job of collapsing on Ellis and he was never give room to work his magic. There were also some really unfortunate calls - particularly against Graham. We were a very good team but not a good enough team to play poorly and still beat a two seed.
Question, at the end it looked like 'Nova was giving Frank a drive to the basket but he decided to pull it out for an attempt at a three and then had the ball stolen from him. Is that what happened?
I think Selden will leave but I certainly hope Diallo stays. In another year I think he could become a star for KU. With Ellis and Selden gone, it's hard to imagine we'll be better next year but if Svi and Diallo can come anywhere near their potential - we could have a special team again next year.

I agree with senex. We didn't play well and still had a chance. I don't see Selden leaving. I, personally, need to move on. I'm not happy with the outcome, but props to Villanova. They were better tonight. It doesn't mean that they are the better team. I enjoyed our change in direction this year (mid-season) and I am on to next year with the thought that we will be an improved team, minus Perry's automatic 16 and 7. I'm still a huge fan and support the Jayhawks win or lose. (although, sometimes it's tough) ( I drove 10 hours to experience the Bucknell debacle) RC
