It was fun while it lasted

Sometimes a team stinks it up entirely on its own, and tonight was one of those games. Ellis finishes his career with a 'Wiggins.' Shame it had to end this way. We were disjointed from the beginning, and played well for a total of 9 minutes. And that is not enough.

2-6????? I that an accident? I can't figure out why we can't play better in these big games. Is it the players? Is it the coach? Was Ellis sick? Mr. Solid was anything but solid. Why? Was it nerves? Was it a great game plan by Villanova? Was it just luck of the draw? I don't know but I am getting pretty weary of more often than not falling short by poor play in the big games. Maybe it is just fate. Maybe it is just that someone has to be on this side of the curve so guys like Coach K can be on the their side of the curve. We might have been a better team that ran against a hot team. We might have been a team that achieved beyond our collective ability in the season and were found out in the tourney. We may be just a victim of the standard deviation jinx. But 2 out of 8 times? That defies logic. Whatever!!!

I'm too old to feel this bad over a game played by kids. But I feel like crap anyway.

The whole bunch was off today, except for the one guard who got called for 3 phantom fouls. I don't understand why Self didn't put Svi in earlier in the 2nd half. Only Graham could shoot and if Svi could've hit a 3, it might have helped open up the inside. Instead, true to form, he over-played the guards and probably let them get fatigued. Of course, they way they shot the ball they might all have been fatigued before the game started.

Oh well. Nothing else has gone right in my life lately, I shouldn't have gotten my hopes tied into a game.

Amazing achievement during the season; amazing underachievement post season. I think only the head coach is accountable...
