Sweet 16 Blowouts

It seems that almost all of the Sweet 16 games have been blowouts or double digit wins. I pulled up the history of the tourney and the average margin of victory in the Sweet 16 is surprisingly 9.9 points. If UNC holds on to win by 20 the average for the 8 games in the sweet 16 will be 13.5 points. While this is high it is not the highest on record. It is actually the 4th highest on record. The record was 16.1 points in 2009 thanks mostly to a 39 point blowout of Arizona by Louisville. Villanova also beat Duke by 23 and UNC beat Gonzaga by 21.
