KU is ranked 32nd in the official NCAA RPI. Here are some other schools.

29. UCLA (KU beat them and they have 3 losses)
25. Iowa (3 losses)
24. Texas Tech (are you kidding me?)
22. Monmouth (3 losses and they are Monmouth for God's sake)
17. Oral Roberts (Geez!! 3 losses and their best win is No. 42 Detroit)
16. Chattanooga (I'm sure they would love to play KU to show their strength).

I have built algorithm's to calculate RPI's. I am at a loss to explain how this can happen. Can someone please help me.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

I remember a couple of tournaments ago, Lundardi (or one of his ilk) was talking about this. He couldn't replicate the official NCAA RPI either. I'm sure it has to do with strength of schedule. But how do they weight each variable: wins, losses, margin of victory, games versus common opponents, etc.

I bet Asteroid is the resident expert in this.

And until someone like asteroid can explain it to us so it makes sense, that is my official position on the issue of the NCAA RPI.
