“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Is anyone else watching this one?
UVA got off to a blazing start, but the Clones have threatened to come back--largely thanks to the effort of Niang. Unfortunately, they have 2 things going against them:
* The zebras, who are calling iffy fouls against ISU, and have forced Niang to the bench;
* Lousy Clone defense. News flash; right? So many easy UVA buckets...
It's looking pretty bleak at this point for the 3rd and final Big 12 team to punch its Elite Eight ticket...

The refs have just been brutally uneven! Iowa State breathes on a Vrigina player and it's a foul, but The other way, Virginia smacks wildly and crickets.

Easy to steal the ball when no fear of a foul call even if you rake and pull the arms. Refs stink, they are a determint to the game and it just makes me sick

If they let UVA play like that (sans fouls) going forward, they'll be practically unstoppable. They already have great D, but when you let them get away with hacks and muggings like tonight, they go to another level.
Full disclosure: I have UVA going all the way to the championship game vs. KU, because I think they're that good.
As for ND-Wiscy, yep, some very tough calls and no-calls that sunk the Badgers. But also inexcusably poor ball handling down the stretch.
