He's almost certainly gone. His play has moved him into 1st round territory, and there is little that will change that now. I guess it's a byproduct of a really good NCAA tournament. This info comes from a NBA person that I know well. Expect Wayne to go around 25-28.

Well that is nice for Wayne but a little bit of a downer for KU. I sure hope we get that Josh kid now. Plus, I guess, if Svi stays next year he appears ready to be a star. And I have certainly been reasonably pleased with what I have seen in Lagerald. Losing Perry and Selden will be huge but OTOH, we have seen breakout seasons before and we have a few guys that could have those given the chance. Bragg could certainly be a Thomas Robinson type breakout player. Devonte' is almost surely poised to be a star. Svi seems to me to be close to that. Lucas has grown more in the last 2 months than any player I can recall and if that continues he will be a key next season. A starting lineup of Lucas, Bragg, Jackson, Graham and Mason, with Svi off the bench for 20 minutes, Greene hopefully getting meaningful minutes, Coleby being a force off the bench to be at least what we lost in Traylor and possibly Azibuike as well. That sounds like a pretty potent lineup.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

Coleby is a better player than Jamari. Vick will be a big surprise, I think. He's physically as impressive as Selden, and may turn out to be as valuable. Bragg is a much more finished offensive player than Thomas R. was for us, but he needs to get stronger and play better defense. Next year has the potential to be another great year, but right now I'm excited about what we are about to experience.

We have 4 more games to play/win this season. I hope Wayne really wants an NC ring before he departs...

I am wondering how DeVonte's stock has risen?

If we win it all Wayne is the most likely MOP. My estimation is that moves him into the 12-20 range.

This actually doesn't surprise me. I hypothesized about this potential scenario a few weeks ago. To me, Selden was a tweener, but a really solid showing on the biggest of stages in the Dance had the potential to elevate him.

Having said that, my scenario involved KU making a super deep run, and Selden sustaining high-level play for the duration. We're only two games into this thing, so I'm a little surprise at how quickly things flipped.

I hope Selden isn't getting wind of this too much, or basking in his own glory. We need the hungry, fiery Selden we've seen the last week-plus to remain very dialed in, and help lead this team to where it needs to go: a national championship. Short of that, it will feel insufficient for me at this point, just given how far we've come and how much talent and capacity we have relative to the field. It will be also be a real downer if Selden goes having not helped to secure a ring.

But that's not going to happen, now is it? :P Instead, the scenario calls for Selden and Ellis to go out with the biggest of bangs--a national crown. KU gets its 4th and re-loads for next year with some serious returning and incoming studs plus Josh Jackson (who commits to KU after knowing Selden is going). KU doesn't miss a beat, wins its 13 straight league championship, and prepares to do serious damage in the Dance. In short, the beat goes on... And all is well with KU... B) ;)

Having slept on this, I also think that Wayne has an incentive to do well in the remaining games of the tournament in order to improve his draft position.

For all we know, a great performance by him running all the way through the national championship game could improve his position by several slots.

The key is for him to do this within the flow of the Kansas offense, so that he doesn't try to be something that he isn't. Our best strength is our balance, and we need all of our guys to do well – – not just Wayne.

Sorry to hear that he may go - of course happy that he is playing well.
Agree with most of the thoughts in above posts - a lot to look forward to for next year. One question Senex, what do you base your assessment on that Coleby will be better than Traylor? I don't know that it's false, but he will have to be better than his brother Dwight for it to be true?
Also, the 2017 NCAA tourney has 1st & 2nd rounds in Tulsa, Midwest regional in KCMO, & FF in Phoenix - perfect.

HE, if you like the 2017 setup, check out the 2018 possibility - Wichita (Intrust Arena), Midwest Regional Omaha, FF in Alamadome (10 years after KU's NC there).
FYI only - still a lot of business to take care of this year. RCJHKU

I am not going back to the delivery of a few bushels of peaches in New England long ago, but will revisit 2008. After cutting down the nets rush left after three years, Arthur after two and Chalmers after three. ( Though Mario went into the second round he has two rings and is presently getting paid despite a bummer of an injury. ) An exodus seems to go hand and hand with mega success and I'll never grouse about any kid leaving after his junior year especially if they stick long enough to get the second NBA contract.

In 2011 I was watching our Round of 32 game against Illinois. The Twins looked like men among boys and I said to my buddy , " these guys are gone." It has not been all bliss but they remain on NBA teams and are getting solid minutes.

Hopefully we play at least three more game. If Wayne has two or more games similar to UConn I would say " If not now, when?"
As somebody suggested, his departure might tip the scales toward Svi remaining.

I expect one or both of the freshmen bigs to get some minutes against Maryland's long and athletic bigs, especially , Stone.
Could be a showcase for Diallo, where he just lets the fast twitch muscles take over?

We are still in the running for a few studs who we probably don't get unless there are some early departures. With our two point guards and LL back we have a core. Add Bragg, Greene, Vick and Svi to that and we are again competing for the Big XII. Add a red-shirt and a few newcomers and we could be 32-4 at this stage next year.

Road trips to Ft. Worth are about to get tougher . Ones to Stillwater are already tough and won't get easier.
