UNI took a 69-57 lead with :44 to go in the game.

A&M then repeatedly turned UNI over to go on a 14-2 run and send the game to OT.

A&M won in 2OT after UNI again missed a chance to win the game, missing at the FT line at the end of the first OT.

Here's the story- www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2016...t-sweet-16/82061890/

A&M faces OU next.

This game is THE reason this tournament is so great. Congrats to the Aggies. Shame on the fans I saw leaving. UNI had some great kids and I do like their coach, but honestly...didn't it warm your heart just a bit to see them unravel?

Nope.

Just curious since I believe that A&M is your second favorite team.

I am happy that A&M won. I note that my ties there are nowhere near my KU ties, or even my Allegany College ties (freshman & soph years). Or, for that matter, even my Indiana ties (I was post-grad for a year in 1985, the Year of The Chair, and back then IU felt so much like KU it was almost like being on another KU campus.) A&M was even more grad school, just after the Big 12 formed, and every -- EVERY-- time I was working out at the gym I had my KU garb on. Raised more than a few questions from folks during my time there.

But even if UNI had been playing KU, and even with the tournament history between KU and UNI, I would still feel bad for those UNI kids. It's one thing to lose in a well played game, and another to lose in historic fashion because you fell to pieces in the final 44 seconds. That storyline is going to cloud what was otherwise a wonderful postseason for them, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives -- the biggest choke in NCAA tournament history. I wouldn't wish that on anyone except UK, UNC or Duke -- or that other school to the east of us if they ever manage to field an NCAA Tournament worthy team again.
