I'm worried about the refs and UConn's FT shooting today...

KU really needs the refs to not call a bunch of touch fouls on our guys, and to let us play our solid D. If they don't, we'll face very tense moments from foul trouble for our key players, plus putting UConn on the line to offset (or augment) anything going on in the flow of the game.
I'm officially worried about the refs in this game...
Does someone want to help talk me out of such anxiety?

It's a tenuous and thin line between KU avoiding foul trouble yet still playing with aggressive defensive intensity. So far, the refs are clearly calling the tourney to favor aggressive offenses, putting the defenses on their heels. I hope they back off of that a bit today and let KU play its style of D.

The point I was making was whether the REFS will intervene in such a way that they completely take KU off its primary game (tenacious man to man defense). If we have to play soft and on our heels because the refs call every whiff of air coming near a UConn body, we will be in for a SERIOUS challenge. It's not only that UConn will go to the line more, but that they shoot it lights out once they get there. That AND the fact that it would take away KU's aggressive edge and potentially put good players on the bench, in foul trouble.
That was my only point in this thread. It wasn't a prediction thread. Wasn't even a full game analysis thread. Just an expression of concern about one facet of the game--the zebras--that we cannot control, yet can have a huge bearing on a game like this, given UConn's efficiency at the line.

PS: Thanks for addressing the one concern I have, guys. I needed some reassurance on this front, because that's the one area (along with KU needing to be loose and to hit a healthy amount of threes) that I think is a key in this game. KU is the better team--we just have to go prove it!

I realize that we all look at games like this with great trepidation, but I feel just like I did in 2008.
Get me past the dreaded game 2 (in this case, against tourney-savvy UConn and 7-0 Ollie), and I'll be golden. If we get to the FF, I think this game might be one we look back on as the toughest of our first four. But as long as we win, I won't care.
Go Hawks!
