Kenyucky is on its way to winning its first game (v Stony Brook); leading to them having to play IU on Saturday.

Would really love to see my Hoosiers (1985 post grad year) stop squid from getting any more wins this season, especially since squid was whining so much about the committee setting things up so this match up could happen.

FWIW, the DPPI gives Kentucky only a 1.6 point edge and a 54% chance of winning. That is less of a difference than there is between KU no West Virginia. This should really be a close and good game. Clearly one of the best games of Round 2

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

I loved it when IU beat them a few years back (was it their dynamo 2012 NC team?). IIRC, that was UK's first loss all season. The IU fans were absolutely whacked that night--in a good way (max energy). However, that was in Assembly Hall, not on a neutral court in the post-season.

Obviously the two programs go back a bit, and there is no love lost--especially being bordering states on top of it. Des Moines is going to be INSANE that day, what with that game plus the KU-UConn game. Talk about some serious hoops pedigree on display! (Albeit, in UConn's case, of the "new money" variety)

My hope? They make the KU-UConn game the late game, and IU-UK the earlier one. IU pulls off the upset, and all the disappointed UK fans run for the exits to head back to Lexington or from wherever else they came. That takes a HUGE anti-KU contingent out of the arena, and KU then pounds UConn in front of a much more favorable crowd in Des Moines. I know this won't happen, because the UK-IU game is juicier as the prime-time bout, but still...

Do you really think so?

Given UConn's recent tournament history and KU's recent tournament history, wouldn't the prospect of the big upset be more appealing as a prime time draw? IMO it would be, especially since, as you noted, they all have serious hoops pedigrees, so any advantage one matchup might claim over the other would have to be more than just that.

Yeah, I think so. In fact, I think the Committee very much had prime time in mind when they slotted that one. John Feinstein (famous sportswriter) also thinks so--I read his Monday analysis of the brackets in the Wash Post.

Those fan bases hate each other, and it's a very evenly matched game on paper. Ours is more of the "upset" potential game. Not saying ours isn't super appealing for TV purposes (it is), but just that I think UK-IU is the "primo" game of the day in the TV networks' eyes.

Looks like your gut instinct was correct, HE:

(KU to play after UK-IU, but both will be in good viewing time slots for a Saturday)

I'm actually glad to see this, as I have a busy day Saturday and that means I'm free for the big 2nd round game! ;) It also means we might (please, basketball gods?) get the scenario with IU beating UK, all the UK fans leaving en masse, and KU having a more favorable arena in which to play and defeat the Huskies!

Over the course of my life I have earned college credit (and in some cases actual degrees :woohoo:) from KU, IU, TAMU and Baylor (for completeness, toss in Allegany Community College for my first two years post-high school).

Only Baylor has embarrassed itself so far this post-season. Hopefully my Aggies will win tomorrow and Sunday, and my Hoosiers and our Jayhawks will do the same on Saturday!

So good to see that the schedule worked out as you hoped! Now it's up to IU to beat Kenyucky (thank you very much, please!) so all those nasty other Blue fans leave to drink off their sorrows and not try to throw a whammy on our guys! :P
