It was an interesting game for us. Lots of fouls called, not all the 'real' kind. For most teams having the 3 starting guards in foul trouble would be disaster. For us, it was a revelation, as Svi and Vick showed us a lot more than we expected. Svi's shooting has been tremendous since his shooting form was 'readjusted' a few weeks ago. Vick is very athletic and it never appeared that he was nervous for a second.
The fact that we had foul trouble forced Self to rest our starters a lot more than he's generally willing, even in blowouts. Good to have some extra rest before the Sat. game.
Even Diallo looked smooth. I wonder if we'll see him a bit more in the tournament. He looked confident and comfortable, and his shooting is much better than even a couple of weeks ago.
I've seen UConn quite a few times this year, and they are overrated by the media right now. They have 3 guys who can score, but overall they are not a great team, and we should win by 10 plus. They are well coached, but out talented.
I already said it in another thread, but it's worth repeating. Scott Drew is a lousy coach, relying on a gimmick defense which has cost them dearly in the tournament. I honestly don't know how he continues to recruit these great athletes but at some point they are going to stop coming. Weird program, almost worthy of their horrible uniforms.
Selden did nothing to increase his draft position today and if he continues, he'll help us win, and almost definitely be a KU senior, which I would really enjoy seeing. On the other hand, Svi could end up getting drafted and then we lose a lot, because if he stays, he'll be an AA next year.

Music to our ears. I haven't seen them at all--I only know their post-season rep and capacity for some serious good fortune. As I said in the other thread, I see us winning as well, as the clearly superior team (there's a reason we're ranked #1). We just have to play our game--I'm sure we'll have scouted them very effectively and it comes down to the refs not being bozos (UConn is the best FT-shooting team in the country!) and KU executing at its highest.
For all we know, this could turn out to be one of the more challenging games we'll have (hard to say who will be standing for our Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games). The team just needs to focus laser-like strictly on the team and challenge directly ahead of us, no farther, and then go out and execute to the utmost of their ability. Do that, and we advance. It's as simple as that.
PS: Concur on your other points, including on Svi. I really, REALLY want him back next year because he is truly blooming and will be special. But if the tradeoff is us going all the way to a crown and him being a nice cog in that run, I'll take that EVERY TIME!
“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

Well put. IMHO there was no reason Baylor should have lost to Yale - it truly was a case of poor coaching. Bummer to my Big 12 tilted bracket.
Svi was incredible but unless he keeps it up through the tournament, he will surely be back. I don't think Selden will see his stock rise by staying a year and my guess is that he's gone after this season. Love Selden but as long as Svi stays, I'm nothing but happy thinking of Selden making an NBA roster.
