"When you have a ruling class that doesn’t believe in — or even much like — the fundamental values of the nations it rules, things tend to work out poorly.”
Glenn Reynolds
I heard that Mason hurt his hip during the second half. Anyone heard anything?

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

Covered just a little bit in this thread...

See NewtonHawk's comment at the end of that thread. Doesn't provide any specifics--just Gurley hinting that he has to play through whatever it is.

Konza: At one point he went down HARD on a play and was clearly hurting--his quad area. He limped noticeably yet immediately got back up the court on a WVU turnover.

Looks like Bedore posted it before midnight.

Self was pretty dismissive of it...but if a guy as tough as Frank says he's not sure if he can play on it prior to the game, you have to think it was really sore.
This is why I hate the Big 12 tournament.
Let's hope he's fine--not only the foot but also the hip and/or quad (per my comment about him hurting after that fall in the WVU game)...

The kid is tough as nails. Here's hoping they iced him up, he throws down some anti-inflammatories, gets some needed rest, and comes out ready to rock and roll Thursday. Win those first two games and he won't have to play again for another week.
Fingers crossed...

He also fell hard on his right hip a couple of times.
“At one point of the game it was hurting so bad I wanted to tell coach to take me out, but the moment was too great so I toughed it out,” Mason said.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
In a postgame interview, he told Holly (I think) that he hurt his hip on a couple of crash landings, but he couldn't take himself out, it was too important a time in the game. He also acknowledged hurting his foot against BU.
Assuming KU gets the Midwest bracket and starts in Des Moines, KU will be in a Thursday game, giving him just 4 days to recover before having to deal with Bruise City again. Hopefully he will be able to keep loose and not tighten up over the next few days.
