I thought it was strange that coach found minutes for everybody else?

Didn't you see his face? Said got clobbered in practice (think by Svi, but not positive). Think 6 stitches inside his mouth. Didn't hear when he would be available.

Coach said in the postgame that if he would have gotten hit in the mouth, it would have put him out for the entire weekend. Since they were doing well without him they decided to let him sit and heal some more. it sounds like they would have used him if needed.

As it turns out I did not see a second of the game , just 3 or 4 score checks. It seemed that matters were in good hands.

He wasn't quite as bad as Eddie in the Nutty Professor...

But he definitely looked a tad "off" in the lip...

Sorry for my crass reply. I seem to forget that some folks are still in the workforce. Tomorrows game vs Baylor is at 6pm CT, so hopefully you get to see it.

I think Newton had the info yesterday, but the paper today echoed that Diallo got hit in the face by Svi at practice. He needed stitches in his mouth and it was pretty swollen. We didn't need him, so HCBS kept him on the bench to avoid risk of opening up the stitches.

Said that if the swelling goes down (as expected) in time for Baylor, he'll be available.

Coincidentally, while enjoying an absolutely delicious cheese steak sandwich yesterday at lunch, I bit the inside of my cheek. Got myself pretty good, but was able to persevere and finish the sandwich (I'm not afraid to play hurt). Even today with the swelling I have to be careful not to re-bite it. I realize that this didn't make the paper and was surprisingly overlooked at the post game interview (it ended before the LJW could ask, "I hear NotO had a sandwich-related injury. Will that impact your gameplan and how you'll attack Baylor's zone?"). Nevertheless, based on my own rate of healing, I imagine Diallo will be feeling better by tonight, and I also think I'll be ready to enjoy tonight's game accompanied by whatever nachos, chicken wings, or other snacks I line up against.

Thanks for your prayers and support in this difficult time. ;)

I feel your pain, my friend. I had a minor scuffle with such an injury myself the other day with some grilled chicken (It really "bites" when I do that). I think there might have been some background chatter among the reporters about your unfortunate injury, but no one was bold enough to ask the coach about it. However, to compare your rate of healing to Diallo's is a little difficult since he required stitches. If you needed stitches AND had similar resultant swelling, then you really did a number on your cheick. :woohoo: I suggest you ice it through the afternoon to prepare for the game tonight. Hang in there....we care!

Thanks Newton. I'll soldier on. And no, my "sandwich incident" very likely bore little similarity to catching an elbow from Svi.

I'm just happy that HCBS has the luxury of resting him and not taking a risk so he'll be good to go for the big dance.

I love days like this when the Board members are all "playing" loose and relaxed!

May our beloved team do the same!

Can someone tell me how the heck Svi's elbow got anywhere near Diallo's jaw? Was Svi on a step ladder? Was Diallo sitting on the floor? Svi is a decent size guard but that literally seems like a stretch. :P Hopefully Diallo will feel better today and the swelling has gone down. Would love to see what he could do against Baylor. Pretty sure I know what Svi will be doing against that zone!!

It involves a teeter-totter and Jamri jumping on one side to launch Svi 30 feet into the air where Frank throws a bank shot off the scoreboard for the alley oop. Diallo was defending at the teeter-totter and got too close during the launch.
